Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note 14S in Central and Eastern Europe, specifically targeting markets in Czechia and Ukraine.
However, this new release is essentially a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G, featuring a redesigned camera island while retaining the same core specifications.
Redmi Note 14S Features Familiar Specs
The Redmi Note 14S shares nearly identical specifications with its predecessor. It comes equipped with a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a Full HD+ resolution.
One of its standout features is the 200MP main camera, offering high-resolution photography for users seeking detailed shots.
Unchanged Software Raises Concerns
When Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G in early 2024, it was already running on the outdated Android 13.
The latest Redmi Note 14S does not mention any software upgrades, raising suspicions that it may still be running the same older version of Android under Xiaomi’s HyperOS skin. This lack of software updates could be a drawback for users expecting the latest Android experience.
Pricing and Availability
The Redmi Note 14S is available in three color options: Blue, Purple, and Black. In Ukraine, the smartphone is priced at UAH 10,999, while in Czechia, it is selling for CZK 5,999.
This converts to approximately $260 or €240 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.
While the Redmi Note 14S brings a fresh look with a new camera island design, the unchanged hardware and software may leave some potential buyers questioning its value. For those who missed the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G, this could be an opportunity to get similar specifications at a competitive price.
However, those looking for the latest Android version and major hardware upgrades might want to explore other options in the market.
