Engine:

The brand-new GX will be provided with two different powertrain options to cater to the preferences of customers. Initially, in the United States, the GX will come with a standard twin-turbocharged 3.4L V6 engine and a 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission. This upgraded twin-turbo V6 engine generates a superior 349 horsepower, surpassing the previous generation’s V8 engine that produced 301 horsepower.

Additionally, the torque output has also improved significantly, reaching an impressive 479 lb.-ft. The twin turbochargers ensure a smooth and consistent acceleration, making it easy to control the power delivery in various on-road and off-road situations. Moreover, the towing capacity has been increased to 8,000 lbs. for the Premium, Premium+, and Overtrail grades with the inclusion of a standard tow hitch. Furthermore, a hybrid powertrain option will be made available in the United States at a later time.

Exterior:

The all-new GX showcases a bold and aggressive exterior design that embodies its tough and durable reputation. Lexus designers aimed to capture the off-road capabilities of a true body-on-frame SUV while envisioning GX owners enjoying luxurious outdoor experiences. They were determined to create a GX model that combines a rugged exterior with a soothing, luxurious, and contemporary interior space.

Compared to the previous generation, the 2024 GX introduces a noticeable change with its square-body profile and horizontal design theme. The front of the all-new GX continues the Lexus spindle body concept with a bold and resolute design that enhances off-road functionality. To achieve a stable and grounded stance, the designers crafted a tightly built body with a wide track and fender flares, shifting the front pillar base backward.

The overall width of the GX has increased by 3.74 inches (4.52 inches for Overtrail) compared to the previous generation. The Premium Triple Beam LED headlights and grille opening have been elevated to minimize potential road damage. LED fog and cornering lamps are available to enhance visibility. The front overhang has been reduced by 0.78 inches to improve clearance. The seamless integration of the grille and headlamps creates a commanding front presence.

From the side, the 2024 GX displays a robust and powerful appearance, featuring a horizontally flowing body and an extended wheelbase of 2.36 inches. The A-pillar has been retracted to improve visibility, along with a lower belt line and enhanced ground clearance. The overall length of the 2024 GX has increased by 2.75 inches. Contributing to its strong presence are the prominent 33-inch tires with 18-inch wheels on the Overtrail models, optimized for superior off-road performance. The rear tread is widened by 3.26 inches for the Premium and Luxury grades, and 4.06 inches for the Overtrail grades.

At the rear, the GX maintains its square and aggressive stance with the distinctive unified L-shaped light bar. The updated LEXUS logo follows the Next Chapter design introduced on the 2022 NX. Additionally, based on customer feedback, the all-new GX will feature a standard power rear liftgate (a first for the GX) with a pop-out window, along with an optional kick sensor for hands-free convenience.

Interior:

The brand-new GX offers customers the perfect combination of a rugged and capable exterior with a luxurious interior, creating a haven of comfort during road trips. Drawing inspiration from the driver-focused cockpit design found in the all-new RX, the GX incorporates thoughtful features that allow the driver to focus confidently on the road ahead.

One significant improvement over the previous model is the redesigned lower, horizontal instrument panel that seamlessly extends into the dashboard, providing a simplified and enhanced experience for both the driver and front passenger. This design improves visibility and creates an open and spacious feel in the cabin.

The available Head-Up Display (HUD) is seamlessly integrated into the center, where you’ll also find the standard 14-inch Multimedia Touchscreen Display with Lexus Interface technology. Important controls such as air conditioning and audio volume still have physical dials for easy access, while off-road controls are conveniently located near the gear shifter to minimize distractions. The 2024 GX comes with wireless Apple CarPlay® Integration and Android Auto® compatibility as standard, along with a digital 12.3 Multi-Information Display (MID).

With seating for up to seven occupants, the all-new GX is designed with thoughtful touches throughout. Ergonomic enhancements have been made to reduce fatigue and improve driving posture, including improvements to the seat cushion, seatback bolster, and headrest. The front seat hip point to heel height has also been extended by 1.18 inches.

The second row offers two configurations: captain’s chairs or a 60:40 split-folding bench. To provide convenient access to the third row or additional luggage space, a one-motion tumble system has been added. The driver and front passenger seats come with standard heated and ventilated functions, and heated second-row seats are available. The third row can be configured with power or manual seats. For added safety and convenience, a rear seat reminder has been implemented.

The interior color design of the GX focuses on earth tones, harmonizing with the natural surroundings beyond the vehicle’s doors. You can choose between a semi-aniline leather or NuLuxe® trimmed interior in Black, Dapple Gray, or Saddle Tan, complemented by black or dark brown grained trim. The Overtrail grades offer a GX-first color combination of Black NuLuxe® trimmed interior with Olive Ultrasuede accents or Chateau NuLuxe® trimmed interior with Olive Ultrasuede accents and black ornamentation.

Throughout the cabin, you’ll find six illuminated charging ports (four in Overtrail), and a wireless charger is available in the front console tray, catering to your tech needs. Interior storage space has been increased in the center console, door pockets, and there are now up to 12 cupholders. Compared to the previous generation, the GX offers improved luggage space in both the second and third row configurations, accommodating up to 5 suitcases when the third row is folded. Additionally, two additional storage spaces have been added under the cargo area for smaller items, and a 120V AC inverter has been included for additional power requirements.

As for entertainment, the 2024 GX comes standard with a 10-speaker premium surround sound system, and you can upgrade to the available 21-Speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound. Depending on the grade, additional options include Digital Key, Cool Box, Head-Up Display, Traffic Jam Assist, Cold Area Package, and Tonneau Cover.
