The highly anticipated film “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” is set to hit theaters worldwide in early June. Adding excitement to the lineup of Autobots is the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8, playing the role of the heroic Autobot “Mirage.”
In this ’90s adventure, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” takes audiences on a thrilling global journey alongside the Autobots. Joining the battle for Earth are the Maximals, a brand new faction of Transformers ready to fight alongside their allies.
Taking the form of the legendary Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 (964), Autobot “Mirage” embodies the qualities of strength, courage, and occasional rebelliousness.
Oliver Hoffmann, Head of Marketing Communications at Porsche AG, states, “The 911 Carrera RS 3.8 is a perfect fit for ‘Mirage’ not only because the film is set in 1994, but also due to the character’s traits. He’s a tough character with a good heart and a hint of rebelliousness.”

The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 is an exceptionally rare classic car, with only 55 units ever produced. To preserve these valuable vehicles, no original models were used during filming. Instead, five identical replica cars were created to match the appearance of the 964 externally.
However, to ensure authenticity, the film used the sound of a real 911 RS 3.8 engine for Mirage’s car. Ayesha Coker, Vice President of Marketing at Porsche Cars North America, explains, “It was crucial for us to accurately represent the sound of the 911 model depicted in the film.
Despite the challenge of sourcing a limited production 911, we are extremely pleased with the outcome and hope audiences will be too.”
Each of the replica cars serves a specific purpose in the film. One car is modified for high-speed reverse driving, another is prepared for daring stunts, and a third is controlled externally to focus on the artist inside during specific scenes.

This integration showcases the adventurous and heroic spirit of both the character and the car.”
