Lexus Introduces New Three-Row Vehicle, TX: Redefining Luxury and Comfort

Lexus has unveiled its latest offering, the first-ever TX, a three-row vehicle designed exclusively for the North American market. This introduction marks a significant milestone for the brand, as it aims to cater to the growing demand for spacious and luxurious three-row SUVs.

The TX sets itself apart by ensuring that every seat in the vehicle provides an exceptional experience for passengers. With a focus on comfort, electrification, technology, performance, and design, Lexus aims to create an elegant and indulgent vehicle that satisfies the diverse needs of its customers.

Building on the success of its predecessors, the NX, LX, and RX, the TX continues the legacy of Lexus SUVs with its evolved Lexus Driving Signature fundamentals. The vehicle is finely tuned to deliver a smooth and exhilarating drive in every row without compromising the luxury features that Lexus customers appreciate.

Grades:

The 2024 TX will be available in four grades: Standard, Premium, Luxury, and F SPORT Performance. It exudes a commanding presence with its wide stance and comes with 20-inch wheels as standard, while 22-inch wheels are available for a more powerful look on select grades.

Available exterior colors:

Depending on the trim level, the 2024 TX will be available in seven different exterior color choices. These options include Cloudburst Gray, Wind Chill Pearl, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Nightfall Mica, Incognito, and Celestial Silver Metallic.

Engine:

The new vehicle will be presented with three powertrain options to cater to the diverse needs and lifestyles of customers. These options include two electrified versions: a pioneering 3.5L V6 plug-in hybrid and a high-performance 2.4L turbocharged hybrid. Both powertrains aim to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to the brand’s goal of achieving a carbon-neutral society.

The TX 350 (available in FWD/AWD) provides a refined and sophisticated driving experience with its responsive 2.4L turbocharged inline-4 engine, similar to what is found in the RX and NX models.

The TX 500h (available only in DIRECT4 AWD) is equipped with a 2.4L turbocharged Parallel Hybrid system and is exclusively offered as the F SPORT Performance variant. This system, initially introduced in the 2023 RX, is combined with DIRECT4 and Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS), enhancing maneuverability and vehicle stability. DIRECT4 is Lexus’ exclusive all-wheel drive technology that instantaneously controls all four wheels, adapting to driving conditions and driver intentions. DRS allows the rear wheels to turn in sync with the front wheels during high-speed maneuvers, ensuring precise and stable turning response. At low speeds, the rear wheels can turn in the opposite direction as the front wheels, enabling smooth maneuverability.

The TX 550h+ (available only in DIRECT4 AWD) is a plug-in hybrid vehicle that introduces a Lexus-first combination of a robust 3.5L V6 engine and DIRECT4 technology. Drivers can expect a unique driving experience characterized by quietness, smooth acceleration, and an estimated EV range of approximately 33 miles, as projected by the manufacturer. This model will be the first Lexus PHEV assembled in North America and will be available at a later date.

Exterior:

The exterior of TX SUV incorporates Lexus’ current design language and adds distinctive and attention-grabbing design elements while aiming for a unique three-row silhouette. The emphasis during the design process was on achieving excellent aerodynamic performance. This resulted in improved efficiency, handling stability, and the development of the new Lexus “Unified Spindle” design, which incorporates early Lexus design features. The headlights are connected by a narrow opening that extends below the front hood, and a low-set grille forms a seamless spindle shape. This sleek front-end design not only enhances aerodynamic handling but also gives a sense of solidity and improves cooling performance.

The TX boasts a wide and stable stance emphasized by 20-inch wheels in the standard, Premium, and Luxury grades. For a more powerful appearance, 22-inch wheels are available for the TX 350 Luxury grade and come standard on the 550h+. The 500h F SPORT Performance variant also features exclusive 22-inch wheels with a unique design.

At the rear, the TX features a slim signature L-shaped light bar that mirrors the modern and confident impression of the front, contributing to a strong overall silhouette. The cabin silhouette showcases a sleek and refined design with a blacked-out rear pillar and arrow-shaped accents.

Interior:

The interior of the TX prioritizes the driver’s experience, with a cockpit design that fosters a strong connection and confidence. The car features a 12.3-inch multi-information display and a Digital Latch that allows for easy door opening. Passengers are welcomed with illuminated accents and various door trim options. Driver controls, such as the head-up display (HUD), are designed to minimize distractions. The TX comes with a standard 14-inch Multimedia Touchscreen Display called Lexus Interface, providing user-friendly controls and clear information. It also offers wireless Apple CarPlay® Integration and Android Auto® compatibility. Additionally, all powertrain options include a 21-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound System for exceptional audio quality.

Every row of the TX is designed with comfort and convenience in mind. There are ample storage options available throughout the vehicle. Passengers can stay connected and charge their devices with seven charging/communication ports and three power outlets. The cupholders are adjustable and removable to accommodate different cup and bottle sizes.

The front seats feature a dual-opening console lid, allowing the driver and front-seat passenger to access their respective sides independently. The second row can be configured with either captain’s chairs or a 60:40 split-folding bench, depending on the grade. Getting to the third row is made easier with a slide assist walk-in mechanism. By pressing a switch, the second-row seats tilt forward and slide to provide access to the third row.

The TX offers various storage areas, including an optional center console for the second row when equipped with captain’s chairs. This removable semi-console box can store small items or a tablet and has cupholders that can be installed. For those with an active lifestyle, the TX provides ample cargo capacity, accommodating up to seven carry-on suitcases in the rear. Folding down the third-row seats increases cargo capacity to 57.4 cubic feet, while folding both the second and third rows expands it to 97 cubic feet.

The TX goes beyond being just a means of transportation; it ensures a pleasant journey with a quiet and serene cabin. It incorporates high-damping door and roof seals, as well as increased silencer materials, to minimize noise and vibration in the rear seat area.

Safety:

The 2024 TX models come with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 as a standard feature, which offers enhanced reassurance to both drivers and passengers. This comprehensive collection of advanced safety technologies provides the highest level of driver assistance available from the brand. Included in this suite are features such as the Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Road Sign Assist (RSA), and Proactive Driving Assist (PDA). These features are designed to alert the driver about pedestrians or vehicles ahead and help maintain a consistent speed and safe distance from the vehicle in front.

Moreover, the TX models offer the Advanced Park feature, which aids in safe and secure perpendicular and parallel parking and exiting. Additionally, with an active Drive Connect trial or subscription, the Traffic Jam Assist feature is available. This feature monitors the traffic in low-speed driving situations on limited access roadways and automatically moves the vehicle forward or brakes as necessary to maintain a set following distance behind the preceding vehicle.
