BYD Unveils Three New Models in Pakistan

BYD has officially entered the Pakistani automotive market, introducing three new vehicles: the Atto 3 (EV), Seal (EV), and Sealion 6 (PHEV).

These cars were showcased during the brand’s launch event in Pakistan, which attracted high-profile attendees, including top executives from Mega Motors and BYD, Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, along with various dealers.

BYD’s Strategic Vision for Pakistan

Kamran Kamal, CEO of Hubco, spoke at the event, outlining BYD’s ambitious plans for the Pakistani market. He revealed that Mega Motors Co and BYD will establish three state-of-the-art flagship stores in key cities: Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Kamal also shared the company’s goal to establish 20 to 25 dealerships across Pakistan within the next three years.

In a significant move, Kamal announced plans to build Pakistan’s first state-of-the-art New Energy Vehicle (NEV) assembly plant in Karachi. This plant will be instrumental in producing BYD vehicles locally, significantly boosting the country’s EV infrastructure.

The CEO also highlighted plans to install electric vehicle charging stations in major cities and along motorways and highways, ensuring that BYD owners can travel long distances without worrying about range anxiety.

Global Expansion and Local Impact

BYD’s entry into Pakistan marks a significant milestone in the company’s rapid global expansion. As the fifth most populous country in the world, Pakistan presents a substantial market opportunity for BYD.

Sales of the newly introduced EV models are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year, with showrooms set to open in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad beforehand.

In addition to its immediate sales plans, BYD is looking to the future with a proposed factory in Pakistan, with production slated to start in 2026.

This factory will be located near Port Qasim in Karachi, a strategic location that already hosts assembly plants for major car manufacturers like Toyota, Suzuki, and Kia.

Port Qasim, being Pakistan’s second-largest port, plays a crucial role in handling 35% of the nation’s cargo, making it an ideal location for BYD’s production facility.

BYD’s entry into the Pakistani market signals a new era for the country’s automotive industry, with the potential to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles nationwide.
