Karachi, September 5, 2024 – The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) announced the launch of a modern digital media platform aimed at addressing key economic, social, and societal issues.
The initiative was unveiled during the first meeting of FPCCI’s Standing Committee on “Press and Electronic Media,” signaling a step forward in enhancing communication within Pakistan’s business and government sectors.
FPCCI Senior Vice President Saqib Fayyaz Mughni revealed that the platform aims to boost awareness among the business community, students, government officials, and the general public. He emphasized that the channel would play a crucial role in strengthening ties with local and global financial institutions, while also providing essential guidance to the government and decision-makers.
“The digital media platform will allow FPCCI to amplify its voice, highlight ground realities, and foster constructive dialogue with policymakers,” Mughni stated. He also highlighted the urgent need for raising awareness about the current economic situation. According to Mughni, FPCCI’s leadership, along with notable business figures Dr. Gohar Ejaz and SM Tanveer, has devised an ambitious 2030 plan focused on raising Pakistan’s exports to $100 billion.
The meeting was attended by a diverse group of FPCCI members and key stakeholders, including Standing Committee Convener Kashif Munir, Deputy Convener Masood Ahmed Siddiqi, former FPCCI President Zubair Tufail, and FPCCI Vice Presidents Amanullah Parcha and Asif Sakhi, CEEJ President Raja Kamran, among others.
Convener Kashif Munir reaffirmed that the platform would bridge the gap between the business community and media, facilitating a robust exchange of information and ideas. He assured attendees that the digital media channel would launch soon, bringing positive developments for the business sector.
Former FPCCI President Zubair Tufail voiced concerns about Karachi’s deteriorating infrastructure following recent rains. He criticized the lack of investment in Karachi’s development, despite its substantial contribution to Sindh’s revenue collection. Tufail also called for infrastructure improvements and a reduction in the interest rate due to declining inflation.
The initiative received strong support from other key figures, including Khalid Tawb, who emphasized that the United Business Group would fully back the project. Tawb acknowledged the channel’s potential in improving FPCCI’s communication with government bodies.
FPCCI Energy Committee Convener Malik Khuda Bakhsh praised the media’s role in addressing vital issues and stressed the importance of focusing on challenges beyond negative news.
The launch of this digital media platform marks a significant step for FPCCI, positioning it as a key voice in Pakistan’s economic and social discourse.
