Gold crash continues: Pakistan prices sink Rs18,700 in three days

Gold Jewellery in Pakistan

Karachi, March 14, 2026 – Gold prices in Pakistan continued their downward trend on Saturday, marking the third consecutive day of decline, with the precious metal losing Rs18,700 per tola over the past three days in local bullion markets.

According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association, the price of 24-karat gold per tola dropped sharply by Rs8,700 on Saturday, closing at Rs524,562, compared to the previous day’s rate of Rs533,362.

The persistent fall in gold prices started on March 12, following volatility in global commodity markets and shifting investor sentiment. Despite the recent decline, gold prices in Pakistan remain historically high. Earlier this year, the precious metal reached an all-time high of Rs572,862 per tola on January 29, 2026, driven by strong international demand and currency pressures.

Gold price per 10 grams also declines

Similarly, the price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams also recorded a notable decrease in the domestic market. The rate fell by Rs7,459, settling at Rs449,727, compared to Rs457,186 a day earlier.

Bullion traders noted that local prices largely mirror movements in the international market, along with fluctuations in the Pakistani rupee and domestic demand for gold jewelry and investment.

Global gold prices fall

In the international market, gold prices also moved downward. The price of gold declined by $87 per ounce, closing at $5,018, compared to the previous day’s level of $5,105 per ounce.

Market analysts believe the recent drop in gold prices is linked to shifting investor strategies amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. With global oil prices rising due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, many investors are moving funds from traditional safe-haven assets such as gold toward energy-related investments.

Experts say the trend in gold prices in Pakistan will continue to depend on global market movements, geopolitical developments, and currency fluctuations in the coming days.
