Karachi, March 14, 2025 – The gold market in Pakistan witnessed an unprecedented surge on Friday as prices soared to a record high of Rs 314,000 per tola for the first time in history.
The sharp increase in gold prices reflects ongoing trends in both local and international markets.
The gold prices of 24-karat per tola rose significantly by Rs 4,700, compared to the previous day’s closing rate of Rs 309,300. This marks a new all-time high, surpassing the earlier record of Rs 309,500 per tola, which was reached on February 24, 2025.
Similarly, gold prices for 24-karat per 10 grams also saw a sharp increase, rising by Rs 4,030 to settle at Rs 269,204, compared to the last closing rate of Rs 265,174 in Pakistan’s local markets.
Market analysts attributed the surge in gold prices in Pakistan to a strong rally in international markets. They highlighted that gold remains highly volatile due to rapidly shifting geopolitical dynamics, which have fueled investor demand for safe-haven assets.
On the global stage, gold prices continued to climb, reaching a record high of $2,988 per ounce. This marked an increase of $46 from the previous day’s closing price of $2,942 per ounce. The consistent rise in international gold prices has had a direct impact on prices in Pakistan, causing fluctuations in the local bullion markets.
Experts noted that rising inflation, currency depreciation, and uncertain economic conditions in Pakistan have further fueled the demand for gold. Many investors in Pakistan are turning to gold as a hedge against inflation and currency volatility, contributing to the soaring prices.
The surge in gold prices in Pakistan has also affected the jewelry industry, as higher costs are discouraging retail buyers. Traders expect further fluctuations in the coming days, depending on global market trends and economic developments.
Given the current trajectory, gold prices in Pakistan are expected to remain volatile. Investors and consumers will be closely monitoring both local and international developments to assess potential price movements in the days ahead.
