ISLAMABAD, May 14, 2025 — In a major stride toward Pakistan’s digital transformation, Huawei Technologies Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) to train 300,000 Pakistani youth in cutting-edge Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
The MoU signing ceremony, chaired by Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, marks a critical milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward a tech-driven economy. The agreement was signed by Secretary Education Nadeem Mahboob and Ahmad Aziz, Manager Development at Huawei, in a formal ceremony where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the country’s digital advancement.
This groundbreaking collaboration aims to provide ICT training to students under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) in Islamabad, with additional outreach programs in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). As part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, the initiative will deliver basic and advanced digital skills training to thousands of students using over 1,300 labs across these regions.
Under the agreement, Huawei will help develop a new generation of tech-savvy professionals by offering both foundational and advanced ICT training. A total of 240,000 students will receive basic IT education, while 60,000 youth will be trained in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity. Huawei will also provide global-standard certifications to ensure training quality, while MoFEPT will supply facilities and trainers.
The program will launch its first phase with summer camps in June 2025, targeting 50,000 students. These camps will focus on hands-on skills in AI, cloud services, and cybersecurity. Already, 15 universities across Pakistan have integrated Huawei’s curriculum, with over 20,000 students benefiting from specialized courses.
Secretary Mahboob highlighted that this partnership will boost IT exports and create jobs, while Ahmad Aziz stressed Huawei’s long-standing commitment to bridging the digital skills gap in Pakistan. With this transformative initiative, Huawei reinforces its role as a strategic partner in shaping Pakistan’s future as a regional IT powerhouse.
