Islamabad weather update: hot, dry conditions to prevail this week

Islamabad, May 13, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an updated forecast for Islamabad, predicting persistently hot and dry weather conditions over the coming days.

According to the PMD’s report released on Tuesday, residents of the capital and its surrounding areas should prepare for a prolonged spell of dry air and rising temperatures, with widespread winds expected by Wednesday afternoon.

The weather across Islamabad on Tuesday remained hot and dry, with no chances of precipitation. The sun blazed through the sky, heating the ground and pushing temperatures to peak levels. According to AccuWeather, the temperature on Tuesday reached a high of 37°C with a RealFeel® of 38°C. In shaded areas, the temperature felt slightly lower at 35°C. With a maximum UV Index of 11, categorized as extreme, the weather advisory urged citizens to minimize sun exposure and stay hydrated.

Looking ahead, Wednesday, May 14, is forecasted to bring even hotter conditions. The temperature is expected to climb to 38°C, with a RealFeel® of 40°C. Winds from the northwest at 13 km/h may offer brief relief, but they will do little to offset the intensifying heat. The PMD warns of possible health risks such as dehydration and heatstroke, particularly for those spending long hours outdoors.

By Thursday, May 15, the mercury is predicted to hit 40°C, with the RealFeel® reaching 41°C, pushing conditions toward a critical level. The dry spell will continue, and the heat will intensify, making it essential for residents to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight. Similar hot and dry weather is expected to persist into Friday, May 16, with maximum temperatures again hovering around 40°C.

This stretch of hot and dry weather marks the beginning of a potentially intense pre-summer phase for Islamabad. The lack of rainfall and consistently high UV levels suggest that individuals should take proactive measures—wear light clothing, drink plenty of water, and limit outdoor activities during peak hours.

As the city remains under the grip of hot and dry winds, Islamabad’s residents are advised to keep monitoring weather updates and follow health precautions to stay safe during this sweltering period.
