Islamabad, July 19, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that monsoon currents have begun penetrating southern parts of the country, marking a significant shift in weather patterns across Pakistan.
According to the latest update from PMD on Friday, July 19, 2024, a westerly wave is currently influencing the upper regions of Pakistan. This phenomenon is expected to bring mainly hot and humid weather to most parts of the country on Saturday, July 20, 2024. However, isolated rain-windstorm/thundershower activities are likely in specific areas.
The PMD’s weather forecast indicates that areas including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, south Punjab, southeastern Sindh, and northeastern Balochistan may experience rain-windstorm/thundershower spells on Saturday. Meanwhile, for Friday, July 19, 2024, similar weather patterns were observed in Sindh, south Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan, Potohar Region, Islamabad, and Kashmir. Heavy rainfall is anticipated at isolated places in south Punjab and lower Sindh during this period.
Over the past 24 hours, significant weather events were reported across various regions of Pakistan. Rain-windstorm/thundershower activities were recorded in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, southeast and lower Sindh, Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, and Kashmir. Isolated heavy rainfall was reported in south Punjab and lower Sindh during this period. Conversely, hot and humid conditions prevailed in other parts of the country.
