NAB freezes thousands of acres linked to Bahria Town Karachi and seals ‘Ali Villa’ in ongoing land inquiries

Pakistan’s anti-corruption watchdog has taken possession of large tracts of land linked to Bahria Town projects in Sindh and sealed a luxury property allegedly associated with property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said the action was carried out under freezing orders issued by the Director General NAB Karachi.

According to the bureau, the Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro, assisted by police and Sindh Forest Department officials, took possession of land located in Deh Mole, Taluka Thana Bula Khan, as well as Bahria Town-2 in Jamshoro district.

NAB also said the Deputy Commissioner Malir sealed “Ali Villa,” a property allegedly built by Malik Riaz Hussain for personal residential use in the name of his son Ali Riaz Malik.

The property, located in Bahria Hills within Bahria Town Karachi, spans approximately 67 acres and reportedly includes facilities such as a helipad, mini zoo, and swimming pools.

The bureau stated that in two separate inquiries it had frozen 1,338 acres of land allegedly occupied by Bahria Town Karachi for projects including Bahria Greens and precincts 33, 34, 38, 39, 40, 42, and 61. NAB claimed the land belongs to the Government of Sindh.

It further said that an additional 3,150 acres linked to Bahria Town-2 had been frozen over allegations that the land was fraudulently purchased by M/s Paradise Real Estate (Pvt) Limited.

Under the freezing orders, authorities have been instructed to prevent the creation of third-party interests or transfers related to the disputed properties.

NAB added that it had already filed Reference No. 1/2025 before an accountability court in Karachi regarding the alleged illegal conversion and misappropriation of 17,672 acres of government land in District Malir, estimated to be worth around 708 billion rupees.

The bureau alleged that Bahria Town Karachi was developed adjacent to the M-9 Motorway in violation of legal procedures and with the alleged involvement of certain Sindh government officials.

Bahria Town has not publicly responded to the latest allegations.
