New facial recognition facility allows pensioners to complete verification from home without visiting banks every six months.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the launch of the digital Proof of Life system for pensioners, calling it a major step toward improving services for millions of beneficiaries across Pakistan.

Speaking at the launch ceremony on Thursday, the prime minister said the new facility would particularly benefit citizens, women and persons with disabilities. The system will serve both civilian and military pensioners, helping them complete mandatory verification without the difficulties associated with repeated visits to banks.

Digital system to ease pension verification

Prime Minister Shehbaz said the initiative reflected the government’s commitment to using modern technology to make essential public services more accessible. He described assistance for citizens and physically challenged people as more than an administrative responsibility, calling it an important service to humanity.

Under the new system, pensioners will be able to complete their Proof of Life verification remotely through a digital application and facial recognition technology. The facility is aimed at eliminating the need for pensioners to physically visit banks every six months for verification.

The prime minister said the change would provide significant relief to physically weak pensioners, many of whom face difficulties travelling to banks solely to complete the verification process.

NADRA facility available without fee

Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for making the digital service available without charging pensioners. He said millions of beneficiaries could benefit from the technology-driven facility.

The prime minister praised Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, PM’s Adviser Dr Syed Tauqir Hussain Shah, NADRA Chairman and other officials and institutions involved in developing the system.

He congratulated all stakeholders for completing the initiative and said the launch represented an important milestone in improving pension-related services.

The prime minister further expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the project and prayed for their efforts to be rewarded. He said the people benefiting from the facility would remember those responsible for the initiative in their prayers.

The digital Proof of Life system is expected to make pension verification faster, easier and more convenient, particularly for citizens who face mobility and accessibility challenges.
