PM Shehbaz Urges Nation to Pray for Rain Relief

Islamabad, November 14, 2024 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday appealed to the public to observe Namaz-e-Istisqa, or prayers for rain, across the nation, urging citizens to seek Allah Almighty’s mercy to ease the prevailing dry conditions. The Prime Minister’s call emphasizes the importance of collective prayers in mosques throughout the country to invoke divine intervention for rain amid growing environmental concerns.

In an official statement released by the PM Office Press Wing, the Prime Minister highlighted the urgent need for rain to address environmental and health challenges impacting daily life. He stated that widespread rainfall, or “Baran-e-Rehmat,” could play a crucial role in improving the air quality and alleviating various health issues exacerbated by the dry conditions. The Prime Minister noted that recent dry spells have strained the environment, and rainfall could offer considerable relief.

PM Shehbaz specifically called upon religious scholars and community leaders to lead these prayers and help organize Namaz-e-Istisqa gatherings across all mosques. He stressed that the role of religious leaders is essential in mobilizing communities to participate in this significant prayer event, fostering a sense of unity and collective hope.

The Prime Minister expressed optimism that rainfall would bring relief not only to the environment but also to public health. Recent reports from environmental and health authorities indicate that prolonged dry weather and lack of precipitation have led to a rise in respiratory and skin-related ailments, particularly in urban areas. PM Shehbaz pointed out that rain could significantly mitigate these issues by reducing airborne pollutants and improving overall air quality.

In many parts of Pakistan, Namaz-e-Istisqa is a traditional prayer held during periods of drought or insufficient rainfall. By organizing these prayers, PM Shehbaz hopes to unite the nation in a collective spiritual effort to overcome the challenges posed by current weather conditions. He encouraged people from all walks of life to participate, reinforcing the message that, regardless of personal faith, prayer can be a powerful means to seek divine assistance.

As the government coordinates efforts to facilitate the prayers in both federal and provincial regions, PM Shehbaz also emphasized the importance of unity and resilience in facing environmental challenges. The Prime Minister’s appeal reflects a broader awareness of the impact of climate and weather patterns on public health, underscoring the need for both practical and spiritual responses.

The Namaz-e-Istisqa gatherings are expected to be held nationwide, with mosques preparing to welcome worshippers for the prayer ritual as the nation collectively seeks relief from the current hardships.
