Weather Alert Issued for Multiple Regions

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert warning of rain, windstorms, thunderstorms and hailstorms across several upper and central regions of the country over the next 12 hours.

According to the forecast, isolated areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Islamabad, upper Sindh and north and northeast Balochistan are likely to experience unstable weather conditions, including heavy rainfall at some locations.

Heavy Rainfall Risk and Flood Concerns

The PMD warned that heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in northeastern Balochistan and southern Punjab, raising the risk of localized flooding, urban disruption and water accumulation in low-lying areas.

Authorities said sudden weather changes could trigger strong winds and hailstorms in vulnerable regions, particularly during evening and night hours.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather conditions are expected to persist in other parts of the country, where no significant rainfall activity has been forecast.

Temperatures Recorded in Major Cities

According to morning readings, Islamabad recorded 23°C, while Lahore and Peshawar stood at 28°C. Karachi registered 30°C, Quetta and Gilgit 21°C, Murree 14°C and Muzaffarabad 18°C.

Officials said temperatures are expected to fluctuate as cloud cover and rainfall activity increase over the next several hours.

Weather Outlook for Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are expected with chances of rain, wind and thunderstorms in Srinagar, Jammu, Anantnag and Shopian.

Similar weather patterns are likely in Leh, Pulwama and Baramula, where intermittent rain and thunderstorms may occur.

Recorded temperatures in the region were Srinagar, Pulwama and Anantnag at 16°C, Jammu at 28°C, Leh at 5°C, and Shopian and Baramula at 15°C.

Advisory for Citizens

The PMD has advised residents in affected areas to exercise caution, particularly in regions prone to flash flooding, strong winds and hailstorms, and to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions.
