Karachi, January 31, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Wednesday, January 31, 2024, providing valuable insights for stakeholders and highlighting the dynamic maritime operations at one of Pakistan’s key ports.
Four prominent vessels, namely Maersk Boston, Chem-Ocean Leo, Al-Deebal, and African Hornbill, graced the Port Qasim, each carrying essential cargoes such as Containers, Chemicals, LNG, and Coal. These vessels successfully berthed at strategically significant terminals including the Container Terminal, Engro Terminal, Elengy Terminal, and Bulk Terminal, showcasing the port’s versatility and capability to handle a diverse range of commodities. Additionally, the bulk cargo carrier ‘World Crest’ anchored at the outer-anchorage of Port Qasim, carrying an impressive 59,022 tonnes of Coal.
Over the last 24 hours, a total of eleven ships were actively engaged at PQA berths. Two ships, Maersk Atlanta and Tromso, completed their operations and departed the port early today. Meanwhile, the departure of two more vessels, MSC Yukta-X and Bateleur, is expected later in the day. The collective cargo volume handled during this period amounted to 194,020 tonnes, consisting of 135,278 tonnes of imported cargo and 58,742 tonnes of export cargo. The containers played a crucial role in this bustling activity, with a total of 6,703 containers (3,414 TEUs for imports and 3,289 TEUs for exports) efficiently processed at the port.
Presently, there are five ships anchored at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, Golden Curl and World Crest, along with Marathapolis and Cap Andreas, are slated to dock at LCT, PIBT, and QICT on Wednesday. Simultaneously, another container ship, Navios Constellation, is anticipated to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday, further underlining the consistent and dynamic nature of the port’s operations.
