Karachi, September 25, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) released its shipping activity report on Wednesday, detailing the maritime operations and cargo movement over the past 24 hours. The report aims to provide stakeholders with up-to-date information on the port’s operations and expected arrivals.

Four vessels, including MSC Maeva, Bentley-I, Al-Deebal, and Scarabe, successfully berthed at various terminals of Port Qasim. These ships, carrying diverse cargoes such as containers, palm oil, LNG, and coal, docked at Qasim International Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, respectively.

In addition to these arrivals, two more vessels, Clipper Trent and Hafnia Express, have arrived at the port’s outer anchorage within the past 24 hours. These ships are set to load and offload rice and gas oil, adding to the busy schedule of operations at Port Qasim.

Overall, a total of ten ships were engaged at the port during the last 24 hours. Among them, the container ship MSC Maeva departed on Wednesday morning, while three additional vessels – Maersk Durban, Roberta, and Kition-M – are expected to set sail by the end of the day.

Port Qasim handled a substantial cargo volume of 252,801 tonnes over the past 24 hours. This total includes 201,613 tonnes of imported cargo and 51,188 tonnes of exported cargo. The cargo was transported through 5,420 containers, with 2,529 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) of imports and 2,891 TEUs of exports passing through the port.

Currently, five ships are positioned at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim, awaiting docking. Two of these vessels, Forza Roma and Hafnia Express, are scheduled to load/offload rice and gas oil, while three others – SSL Brahmaputra, Cape Andreas, and Maersk Cape Town – are expected to dock at Fauji Akbar Portia Marine Terminal (FAP), Fauji Oil Terminal & Distribution Company Limited (FOTCO), and Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), respectively, on Wednesday.

In addition to the ships already at the outer anchorage, Port Qasim is expecting two more container ships – Teno and San Francisco Bridge – to arrive on Thursday, further contributing to the port’s bustling activity.

Port Qasim continues to play a crucial role in facilitating Pakistan’s maritime trade, efficiently handling a variety of cargoes while maintaining a steady flow of imports and exports.
