Karachi, November 8, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) released its latest shipping activity report for Friday, November 8, 2024, providing essential updates on vessel movements and cargo handling to support industry stakeholders.
According to the report, seven vessels—Jaru Bhum, Atlantic Ibis, Team Bravo, Eva Pearl, Khairpur, Dravin, and Malamir—arrived at Port Qasim and successfully berthed at various terminals. These ships carried diverse cargo, including containers, rice, chemicals, mogas (motor gasoline), LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), and coal. Their berths spanned the Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, Sui Southern Gas Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, underscoring the port’s capacity to handle a wide range of goods.
Additionally, the vessel East Wind-1, carrying a shipment of soybean seeds, reached the outer anchorage on Thursday, awaiting further berthing instructions. The steady inflow of vessels carrying bulk and containerized cargo highlights Port Qasim’s role as a vital link in Pakistan’s supply chain, meeting the growing needs of industries and the public.
During the last 24 hours, 11 vessels were engaged at the port’s berths. Among them, three ships—Jaru Bhum, Atlantic Ibis, and PH Giang Minh—departed from the port this morning, while two others, Eva Pearl and AU Taurus, are expected to set sail later this afternoon. The cargo volume handled over this period totaled 90,320 tonnes, consisting of 62,792 tonnes of imported goods and 27,528 tonnes of exports. The containerized cargo handled involved 1,902 containers, split between 754 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of imports and 1,148 TEUs of exports.
At the outer anchorage, twelve vessels are currently awaiting berthing. Among these, four ships—Tamreys, East Wind-1, Southern Unicorn, and Bow En-devour—are scheduled to offload or load rice, soybean seeds, palm oil, and chemicals. These ships are set to dock at FAP, LCT, and EVTL terminals later today.
Looking ahead, two additional ships, MSC Positano and Zhong-Gu-Bo-hai, are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, further bolstering Port Qasim’s throughput in the days to come.
Port Qasim remains a crucial gateway for Pakistan’s imports and exports, with consistent vessel activity supporting the country’s agricultural, industrial, and energy sectors. The PQA’s proactive management and real-time updates help streamline operations, ensuring the smooth flow of essential goods and materials through one of Pakistan’s busiest maritime hubs.
