    Pakistan Petroleum discovers gas in Sindh

    KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) on Wednesday announced discovery of gas from its well located in District Sanghar, Sindh province.

    The company in a communication sent to Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), announced a gas and condensate discovery from exploration well Shahpur Chakar North X-1, in Block 2568-18 (Gambat South), located in District Sanghar, Sindh Province.

    Block 2568-18 (Gambat South) EL is operated by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) with 65 per cent working interest (WI) along with its Joint Venture Partners Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) and Asia Resources Oil Limited (AROL) with 25 per cent and 10 per cent WI, respectively.

    The exploration well Shahpur Chakar North X-1 was drilled to a depth of 3,560 m to test the hydrocarbon potential of Massive Sand of Lower Goru Formation. Based on the wire line logs, potential hydrocarbon bearing zones were identified inside the target reservoirs. Initial testing in the Massive Sand (Deep) interval of Lower Goru Formation flowed 15.2 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) of gas along with condensate of 321 Barrels per Day (BPD) at a Flowing Wellhead Pressure (FWHP) of 3,061 psig on a 32/64″ choke.

    This discovery will add hydrocarbon reserves of PPL and joint venture partners, contribute in reducing the energy demand and supply gap in the country, and will save significant foreign exchange for the country through indigenous hydrocarbon production

    OGDCL discovers gas deposits at Kohat District

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Monday announced discovery of gas deposits at district Kohat in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

    The company sent a communication to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) stated that the TAL Joint Venture comprising MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Co. B. V. (Operator), OGDCL (30 per cent working interst exploratory phase), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PP), Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) and Government Holdings Private limited (GHPL) had discovered gas condensate from Lockhart formation in Tolanj West-2 development well located in district Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

    It said that the well was spudded-in on April 10, 2022 to produce Hydrocarbon from already discovered horizon of Tolanj West D&PL i.e. Lumshiwal Formation and to test Hydrocarbon potential of Lockhart & Shinwari & Samanasuk Formations (as exploratory targets). The well has been successfully drilled down to depth of 4119.34m TVD.

    Based on interpretation results of wireline logs data, Lockhart Formation (Exploratory Target) was tested successfully at rate of around 8.3 Million Standard Cubic Feet Per Day (MMSCFD) gas and 34 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate at choke size 32/64” at Wellhead Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 1285 Pounds per Square Inch (Psi).

    “The new discovery has de-risked further exploration play in TAL Block, leading to new upside opportunities,” OGDCL said, adding that the said discovery will also help and contributed towards improving energy security of the country from indigenous resources and add to the hydrocarbon reserve base of the company, its joint venture partners and the country.

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Wednesday announced discovery of gas deposits at Kohat district in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

    In a communication sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company said the TAL Joint Venture comprising MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Co. B. V. (Operator), OGDCL (30 per cent working interest in exploratory phase), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Pakistan Oilfield Limited (POL) and Government Holdings Private Limited Development and Production Lease (D&PL) in the Tolanj West-2 development well, which is located in district Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

    OGDCL stated that the well was spudded-in on April 10, 2022 to produce already discovered horizon of Tolanj West D&PL i.e. Lumshiwal Formatino and to test Hydrocarbon potential of Lockhart & Shinwari & Samanasuk Formation (as exploratory targets). The well successfully drilled down to depth 4119.34m TVD.

    “Based on interpretation results of wireline logs data, the deeper Samansuk and Shinwari Formations were tested successfully at rate of around 2.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas through choke size 32/64” at Wellhead Pressure (WHFP) of 374 Pounds per square inch (Psi),” OGDCL said, adding that further testing operations are going to evaluate full potential of the well.

    It further said that the new discovery had de-risked an exploration play in deeper reservoirs over Tolanj West D&PL and in TAL Block, leading to new upside opportunities. “The discovery will also help and contribute towards improving energy security of the county from indigenous resources and add to the hydrocarbons reserves base of MOL, its joint venture partners and the country.

    OGDCL discovers oil, gas reserves in Sindh

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), a public limited company of Pakistan with 75 percent share of the government, on Wednesday announced a discovery of oil and gas reserves in Tando Allha Yar, Sindh Province.

    The Joint Venture of Nim Block Comprising OGDCL as Operator (95 per cent) and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) (5 per cent carried) has discovered oil and gas from exploratory well namely Nim East- 1 located in District Tando Allah Yar, Sindh Province, the company said in a statement.

    Nim East-1 was spudded in on March 21, 2022 as an exploratory well by using OGDCL’s in-house expertise and in close collaboration with GHPL team.

    The well was drilled down to 2573m. Based on the results of wireline logs interpretation, Drill Stem Test-1 in the Basal Sand has tested 1400 Barrels of Oil per Day (BOPD) and 5.02 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) Gas through choke size 32/64” at Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 1820 Pounds per Square Inch (psi).

    “The said discovery is the 11th discovery in Nim Block which shows the commitment of Nim Joint Venture Partners to exploit the hydrocarbon potential of the block besides reflection of aggressive exploration strategy,” according to the statement.

    Discovery will help in mitigating energy demand and supply gap from indigenous resources and will add to the hydrocarbon reserve base of joint venture entities and the country.

    OGDCL discovers huge gas deposits in Balochistan

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Thursday announced the discovery of huge deposits of gas reserves in the province of Balochistan.

    In a communication shared with Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and London Stock Exchange, the company said that OGDCL, being operator of Jandran West Exploration License with 100 per cent interest, had made a gas discovery over Mughalkot Formation from its exploratory efforts at Jandran West X-1 well which is located in Kohlu District, Balochsitan, Province, Pakistsan.

    Jandran West X-1 well was spudded-in on May 19 2021 as an exploratory well and drilled down to a total depth of 1627m into Parh Formation. Based on the good gas shown during drilling, interpretation of open hole logs data, Drill Stem Test (DST) has been performed in Mughalkot Formation.

    The well flowed at the rate of 2.391 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) gas with traces of condensate at WellHead Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 455 Pounds per Square Inch (PSI) at 32/64” choke size.

    OGDCL being the leading exploration and Production Company in Pakistan has adopted aggressive exploration strategy which has resulted into Hydrocarbons discovery over Jandran West X-1. This discovery will add to the hydrocarbon reserve base of OGDCL and the of the country.

    Pakistan Petroleum discovers hydrocarbons in Sindh

    KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) on Thursday announced the discovery of hydrocarbons in Sindh province.

    In a communication sent to Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company announced the hydrocarbon discovery from the exploratory well, Jugan-1, in the Latif Block which is situated in the Province of Sindh.

    The company holds a 33.30 per cent working interest; Eni Pakistan Limited holds 33.30 per cent and UEPL, which is Operator of the Block, holds 33.40 per cent working interest in the Block.

    The well was drilled and tested using the operator’s internal expertise and in consultation with the Block’s joint ventures partners.

    The well was drilled to a depth of 11,350 ft. with a reservoir target as Lower Goru Sands. After completion of well, B sand zone (11,122-11,132 ft KB) was perforated which flowed 12.6 MMscfd (million standard cubic feet per day) of gas at FWHP (wellhead flowing pressure) of 3063 psig (pounds per square inch) at 28/64” choke size. Followed by B Sand testing, C sand zone (10,300’KB – 10,310’ KB) was also perforated which flowed 13.7 MMscfd (million standard cubic feet per day) of gas at FWHP (wellhead flowing pressure) of 3323 psig (pounds per square inch) at 28/64” choke size.

    The discovery is the result of an aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the joint venture partners, leading to new opportunities.

    The discovery will contribute in improving the energy security of the country from indigenous resources and it will also increase the hydrocarbon reserves of the joint venture partners and the country.

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Tuesday announced the discovery of natural gas in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

    In a communication shared with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the OGDCL said that the company being operator of Wali Exploration License with 100 per cent working interest had made a gas and condensate discovery over Hangu Formation from its exploratory efforts at Wali #01 well which is located in FR Lakki, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan.

    “Wali# 01 was spudded-in on December 02, 2019, as an exploratory well and drilled down to a total depth of 4727m (measured depth) inside Kawagarh Formation. Based on the good oil/gas shows during drilling, interpretation of open whole logs data, successful testing was carried out in Kawagarh formation, which proved to be gas/condensate discovery.”

    Now, Drill Stem Test (DST) # 02 has been performed in Hangu Formation. The well flowed at the rate of 11.361 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) gas and 895 Barrels per Day (BPD) condensate with Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 2800 Pounds per Square Inch (PSI) at 32/64” choke size.

    It is highlighted that this gas/condensate discovery has further extended the hydrocarbon play area on the southwestern part of the Bannu Basin.

    OGDCL being the leading Exploration & Production Company in Pakistan has adopted an aggressive exploration strategy which has resulted in hydrocarbons discoveries.

    “This discovery will add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of OGDCL and of the country. It will positively contribute to mitigating energy demand and supply gap from indigenous resources,” the company said, adding that the company would continue to strive for increasing shareholders’ value through a robust exploration program.

    OGDCL discovers gas reserves in Balochistan

    KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Authority (OGDCL) on Monday announced gas discovery at Jandran X-04 located in District Barkhan, Balochistan Province.

    The company said that the structure of Jandran X-04 was delineated, drilled and tested using OGDCL’s in house expertise.

    “The well was drilled down to the depth of 1200m into Parh Limestone. Based on Wireline logs data, successfully DST was carried out in Mughal Kot Formation wherein the Well tested 7.08 Million Standard Cubic Feet Per Day (MMSCFD) gas and 0.55 Barrels Per Day (BPD) condensate with Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 1300 Pounds Per Square Inch (Psi) at 32/64” Choke size.”

    The OGDCL said that the discovery of Jandran X-04 is the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company. “It has opened a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves of OGDCL and the country.”
