    Senior Customs officers transferred from Multan

    ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Thursday notified transfers of two senior officers of Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) posted at Multan.

    According to details, the FBR transferred two BS-20 officers of PCS from Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Multan and Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Multan.

    The FBR notified transfers and posting of following officers:

    01. Asif Abbas (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Chief, Federal Board of Revenue (HQ), Islamabad from the post of Director, Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, FBR, Multan.

    02. Imran Ahmad Ch. (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Chief, Federal Board of Revenue (HQ), Islamabad from the post of Collector, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Multan.

    04. Yasin Murtaza (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-19) has been transferred and posted as Additional Director, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, FBR, Multan from the post of Additional Collector, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Dera Ismail Khan.

    The FBR said that the officers who are drawing performance allowance prior to issuance of this notification shall continue to draw this allowance on the new place of posting.

    It is worth mentioning that the FBR has notified transfers and postings of senior customs officers ahead of federal budget announcement for the fiscal year 2022/2023 and a month to go to end the fiscal year 2021/2022.

  • PCS officers BS-18 directed to submit asset declaration

    PCS officers BS-18 directed to submit asset declaration

    ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Wednesday directed the officers of Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) in BS-18 to submit their declaration of assets for consideration in promotion to BS-19.

    The FBR in an official memo asked the PCS officers in BS-16 to complete their Performance Evaluation Reports (PERs) and Declaration of Assets. The scrutiny of personal record reveals that the majority of the officers have not yet submitted their PERs and Declaration of Assets for the period ending on June 30, 2021, the FBR added.

    The meeting of the Departmental Selection Board (DSB) for promotion of PCS from BS-18 to BS-19 is being planned by January 15, .2022 where cases of officer of PCS shall be considered for promotion by the Departmental Selection Board.

    All BS-18 officers of PCS in the promotion zone should submit PERs and Declaration of Assets up to 30.06.2021 to the Board latest by December 31, 2021 positively.

    Completion of PERs and submission of Declaration of Assets are the prerequisites for promotion to selection grades under Civil Servants Promotion (BS-18 to BS-21) Rules, 2019.

    The Board is trying hard to ensure that all eligible officers are considered for promotion in the forthcoming DSB meeting. However, your cooperation in timely completion of service record is equally essential.

    The FBR said that any officer who fails to furnish the above documents by the due date of December 31, 2021. will himself/herself be responsible for non-consideration/deferment/supersession.

    The Reporting/Countersigning Officers are also advised to immediately forward the PERs of the aforesaid officers to the Board (ERM Section) without any delay.

    ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Friday announced the promotion of 18 customs officials to the post of Assistant Collector (BS-17) in the Pakistan Customs Service with immediate effect and until further orders.

    The FBR said that the official would be on probation for a period of one year, extendable for a further period not exceeding one year, provided that if no order is issued by the day following the termination of the probationary period, the appointment shall deem to be held until further order.

    The FBR further said that the posting notification will be issued separately and will assume charge of the post after issuance of the transfer/posting notification.

    WCO holds training for Pakistan Customs officers

    World Customs Organization (WCO) in collaboration with International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Section (INL), held a training program from November 8 to November 12, 2021, for officers of the Pakistan Customs Service.

    Directorate General of Training and Research (Pakistan Customs), Karachi has facilitated the conduct of the COPES-CECAC ‘Train the Trainer’ project.

    The Custom Enforcement Curriculum for Assistant Collectors is in line with Customs Operational Practices on Enforcement and Seizures (COPES) and is aimed at developing effective, professional, and transparent law enforcement institutions in Pakistan and increasing the capacity of Pakistan Customs in the realm of enforcement in the light of international best practices.

    The inaugural ceremony of the program was held at DGTR Karachi and was unveiled by Director General DGTR, Ms. Surraiya Ahmed Butt.

    She thanked WCO and INL for their support in this training and termed Train the Trainer program as an important milestone in the enhancement of the capabilities of the Pakistan Customs Service.

    DG DGTR hoped that the training of 12 officers from Pakistan will create a pool of instructors which would help in the capacity building of Pakistan Customs.

    Gilles Thomas from WCO gave a detailed introduction about the COPES program highlighting the gaps that exist in the Customs Officers’ professional standards and how the CECAC project would be an effort to bridge that gap by developing an enforcement curriculum.

    Later, Mark Kennedy from INL appreciated the working relationship with Pakistan Customs in the realm of training and expressed his desire to further strengthen this cooperation.

    KARACHI: Muhammad Zahid Khokhar, a BS-22 officer of the Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) and Director General of Transit Trade, passed away on Monday morning due to complications related to the coronavirus (COVID-19). He was one of the most senior and respected officers in the PCS and had only recently been promoted to the rank of BS-22.

    FBR to promote IRS, PCS officers from BS-18 to BS-19

    ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday announced that it will promote officers of Inland Revenue Service (IRS) and Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) from BS-18 to BS-19.

    In an office memorandum, the FBR said that the meeting of Departmental Selection Board (DSB) for promotion from BS-18 to BS-19 is being convened shortly.

    Therefore, the FBR directed all BS-18 officers of IRS/PCS and ex-cadre, who are in promotion zone to get their performance evaluation report (PERs) completed up to June 30, 2019 by March 25, 2020.

    The FBR also directed concerned reporting/countersigning officers to forward the PERs pending with them to the board immediately.
