Samsung launches all new Galaxy Z Flip4

South Korea: Samsung Electronics on August 10, 2022 launched the all new Galaxy Z Flip4, flipping the script on mobile experiences, packing more of what makes foldables great into a compact clamshell design to offer the most unique device experiences yet.

The mobile comes with the latest operating system of Android 12, One UI 4.1.1 and charges upto 50 percent in just 30 minutes.

The mobile phone is launched with the storage capacity of 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. The phone is also available with 8GB RAM with 256GB internal storage and 128GB internal storage.

Allowing you to set up shots at any angle, the Z Flip4’s FlexCam lets you live and create truly hands free. You can also harness Quick Shot to capture moments and selfies without opening your phone — or start a video on Quick Shot and transition to FlexCam without interruption.

The Z Flip4’s upgraded cameras and a brighter sensor bring every scene to life in crisp color — whenever and wherever moments happen.

Customization on the Z Flip4 is unlike that of any other device, offering Cover Screen designs and functions that pair across your devices. Z Flip4’s redesign also gives you a more comfortable grip on your smartphone, with the edgier slimmer hinge and straightened edges offering a refined look and feel that matches seamlessly with its four iconic shade options — Graphite, Pink Gold, Blue and the signature Bora Purple.

The 6.7-inch display unfolds a beautiful view thanks to Ultra Thin Glass. Advanced durability makes it stronger than ever — staying tough through up to 200,000 folds.

From the inside out, Galaxy Z Flip4 is made to be durable. These are our toughest foldables ever with exclusive Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®+. And the hinge is protected by Armor Aluminum — our toughest aluminum frame.

This phone is the world’s first water-resistant foldable smartphone. It can hang out in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes without breaking a sweat.

The night just got brighter with Nightography on the Rear Camera. Details are brought to light even in the dark with bigger pixels on the Wide Camera.

Nightography isn’t just for stills — it’s also got video skills. When the action gets going, recordings stay smooth, not shaky, with enhanced OIS and VDIS. Powerful processing allows Super Night Solution to minimize noise so clips of the crew stay clear well into the night.

Introducing FlexCam, a versatile, hands-free camera experience. Take advantage of your phone’s agile angles to capture group shots, selfies and videos from mind-blowing perspectives and impressive true-to-life detail — even in your go-to social apps.

Take selfies with the Rear Camera while the Cover Screen gives you a real-time preview. Check yourself from afar with a full-screen view finder, or tap to see the original ratio to make sure everyone is in frame. And with new software upgrades, Quick Shot is ready for even more action at all the angles between folded and FlexCam.

With this much juice, you can let every call go into overtime. An upgraded 4nm processor works with the long-lasting 3700mAh (typical) battery to power through the hours.

When it’s low, plug in for Super Fast Charging or bypass the cord with Fast Wireless Charging 2.0. With all that power to spare, you can even share a charge with your friend or your earbuds with Wireless PowerShare.

With a customizable 1.9-inch Cover Screen, you get yet another canvas to play with.16 Change it up as much as you want using your videos, photos or your own AR emoji to personalize the clock face. With this much control, you can easily update it with your mood, the weather or to match your outfits.

Your daily digital regulars, right on the Cover Screen. Control your phone with taps and swipes on the 1.9-inch Cover Screen. Access Quick Settings, reply to texts and add widgets to keep apps at your fingertips — no Main Screen necessary.

One UI 5 also brings a simpler way to tailor notifications across applications to help stay focused on what is important. New controls make it easier for users to block notifications from certain apps, so they only see what is relevant to them.

One UI 5 streamlines the process to change sound and vibration settings with reorganized menus that provide easy access to all ringtone volumes and vibration intensities. For the first time, Galaxy users can also tailor their preferred language for their different apps. Whether they’re multi-lingual or just learning a new language, users can easily select which language will be used for each app in Settings.

The update brings several other new features that create an even better Galaxy experience for everyone — from enhanced camera capabilities and security resources to more accessibility tools.

Users can more seamlessly capture high-quality photos and video with a new icon in Pro and Pro Video mode that offers useful tips and tricks on how to use the various lenses, features and controls. Plus, a more responsive zoom bar means quicker close-ups and makes it easier to zero in on the subject using only one hand.

With One UI 5, a new dashboard lets users view the security status of their phone, shows whether there are security issues and recommends ways to fix them.

The update also brings more accessibility options to make it easier for users to interact with their devices. The Magnifier feature enables users to better view and read on their devices, while different types of spoken assistance — such as audio descriptions of videos and speak keyboard input aloud — help users navigate and use devices more seamlessly.

  • Ericsson, Samsung agree on multi-year global patent licenses

Ericsson, Samsung agree on multi-year global patent licenses

KARACHI: Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Samsung have reached a multi-year agreement on global patent licenses between the two companies, including patents relating to all cellular technologies. The cross-license agreement covers sales of network infrastructure and handsets from January 1, 2021.

Furthermore, Ericsson and Samsung have agreed on technology cooperation projects to advance the mobile industry in open standardization and create valuable solutions for consumers and enterprises.

This settlement ends complaints filed by both companies before the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) as well as the ongoing lawsuits in several countries and confirms the value of the strong patent portfolios of both companies. The details of the agreement are confidential and will not be disclosed.

Ericsson’s IPR licensing revenues continue to be affected by several factors, mainly expired patent license agreements pending renewal, geopolitical impact on the handset market, technology shift from 4G to 5G, and possible currency effects going forward. In the second quarter 2021, IPR licensing revenues, including the new agreement covering sales from January 1, 2021, are expected to be SEK 2.0 b to 2.5 b.

Christina Petersson, Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Ericsson says: “We are delighted to sign a mutually beneficial agreement with Samsung. This important deal confirms the value of our patent portfolio and further illustrates Ericsson’s commitment to FRAND principles.”

Over several decades, Ericsson has made significant investments in R&D and in developing global mobile standards and is committed to licensing its standard-essential patents on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms for the benefit of consumers and enterprises everywhere. The FRAND system allows access to technology and intellectual property, developed by inventors like Ericsson, and also rewards those inventors for their major up-front investment in R&D in each mobile generation.

The value of Ericsson’s IP portfolio extends to more than 57,000 granted patents and is strengthened by annual investment in R&D of approx. SEK 40 b. With a leading global position in 5G, the company is confident of growing its IPR revenues long term, thereby further maximizing the value of the overall patent portfolio.
