TikTok, Edkasa join hands to expand ExamReady scholarship program in Sindh

TikTok and the edtech startup Edkasa have joined forces with the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) to expand the ExamReady scholarship program, benefiting over 10,000 deserving students in the province. The collaboration aims to digitize learning processes and enhance educational outcomes.

In early 2022, TikTok, Edkasa, and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) introduced ExamReady, a pioneering STEM-focused digital learning program. This initiative aimed to facilitate online and distance education for high school students. Earlier this year, the ExamReady scholarship program was launched, granting online study grants to 18,000 deserving students nationwide.

The partnership with the Sindh Education Foundation aims to promote quality education in disadvantaged areas of Sindh. The scholarships will be extended to post-primary students in grades IX to XII. This collaboration represents TikTok and Edkasa’s ongoing commitment to leveraging technology to improve learning outcomes. Through the Edkasa app, secondary and high school students will have access to a top-notch online learning experience.

The ExamReady campaign, which aimed to assist millions of Pakistani students, featured over 500 educational videos on Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. These videos provided study tips and exam hacks. Pakistani students quickly embraced these educational videos on TikTok, accumulating over 558 million views and nearly 114,000 video creations since the campaign’s launch.

Edkasa’s partnership with TikTok aligns with the platform’s shift towards creating a greater impact on the communities it serves. TikTok’s success has enabled it to generate additional value by collaborating with apps like Edkasa, which has already garnered over 480,000 downloads.

Numerous testimonials from students and parents highlight the immense value that the app and TikTok’s platform have brought to those who have struggled within the traditional classroom learning model. These individuals have found significant benefit from the Edkasa app and its integration with TikTok.

Zara Basharat Higgs, Manager of Public Policy Programs and Partnerships for South Asia and Pakistan, expressed her belief that education is a fundamental right, and technology plays an integral role in improving access and outcomes for students. She expressed pride in partnering with Edkasa and the Sindh Education Foundation to expand the ExamReady scholarship program, providing more students in disadvantaged areas of Sindh with access to quality education. The partnership aims to continue positively impacting the lives of young people in Pakistan and beyond.

Fahad Tanveer, CEO of Edkasa, acknowledged the tremendous potential that lies in collaborating to make quality education more accessible to children. With strategic support from TikTok and the remarkable initiative shown by the Sindh Education Foundation, Edkasa is grateful for the opportunity to support the learning of students across Sindh through the Edkasa app.

Abdul Kabir Kazi, Managing Director of the Sindh Education Foundation, stated that the Government of Sindh, through the SEF, has implemented various initiatives to promote and develop education throughout the province. These include Public-Private Partnership initiatives that have benefited approximately 850,000 students across more than 2,600 schools and non-formal education centers in Sindh.

Kazi further emphasized the quality of the ExamReady initiative, which has provided students with access to premium online content. The timing of this intervention has been particularly advantageous as students were preparing for their board exams. Through this partnership, students have gained a platform to enhance their skills further. The added feature of SAT and entrance exam preparation has also been widely appreciated by Grade XII students, generating excitement among them.
