2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV: America’s First Hydrogen CUV

Honda has introduced the pioneering 2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV, marking America’s inaugural production plug-in hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle. This compact CUV promises a thrilling driving experience coupled with eco-conscious features.

With an EPA-rated driving range of 270 miles, the CR-V e:FCEV combines a novel U.S.-manufactured fuel cell system with plug-in charging capability, delivering up to 29 miles of electric vehicle driving in urban settings while ensuring rapid hydrogen refueling for extended journeys.

Set to hit the roads for customer leasing in California later this year, the 2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV comes loaded with standard features including enhanced HondaLink, providing comprehensive information on hydrogen stations alongside charging and power supply data.

Additionally, the vehicle includes the Honda Power Supply Connector, facilitating the utilization of a standard 110-volt power outlet to deliver up to 1,500 watts of power, making it a versatile clean power source for various applications, from household appliances to outdoor equipment.

Honda’s venture into hydrogen fuel cell vehicles traces back to the debut of the Honda FCX in December 2002, recognized as the world’s inaugural zero-emission fuel cell electric vehicle certified for everyday use by both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Assembled at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio, the CR-V e:FCEV stands as the sole fuel cell electric passenger vehicle crafted in the USA.

Boasting a 5-passenger capacity, the CR-V e:FCEV introduces the second-generation Honda Fuel Cell Module, manufactured at Fuel Cell System Manufacturing, LLC (FCSM) in Michigan.

This advanced module promises enhanced durability, higher efficiency, heightened refinement, and reduced costs compared to its predecessor.

Developed in collaboration with General Motors (GM), the next-generation Honda Fuel Cell Module is anticipated to slash costs by two-thirds compared to the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell system, owing to various innovations such as electrode materials, sealing structures, and enhanced productivity measures.
