Karachi, February 20, 2024 – Port Qasim, one of Pakistan’s major maritime hubs, witnessed a flurry of shipping activity on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, as the Port Qasim Authority (PQA) released its shipping activity report.
Two ships, MSC Spring and Evriali, carrying containers and wheat, docked at the Container Terminal and Grain Terminal respectively on Monday. Additionally, four more vessels, Maersk Brooklyn, Siamisam, Stefanost, and Agia Eirini Force, arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours, carrying containers, LNG, wheat, and coal.
Over the past day, a total of six ships were engaged at PQA berths. Of these, MSC Spring III and Evriali set sail from the port this morning, while the departure of another ship, Haj Mohammad, is expected this afternoon. The port handled a substantial cargo volume of 102,319 tonnes during this period. This included 50,580 tonnes of imported cargo and 51,739 tonnes of export cargo, encompassing containerized goods transported in 3,005 containers (1,030 TEUs for imports and 1,975 TEUs for exports).
Looking ahead, the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim currently hosts twelve ships. Among them, four vessels—Maersk Brooklyn, Beks Nazik, Sea Champion, and Simaisam—along with another ship, Torm Elizabeth, are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1, FAP, EETL, and FOTCO on Tuesday. The cargo they carry includes containers, wheat, canola seeds, LNG, and mogas. Furthermore, the coal carrier M.V Jade Prosperity is scheduled to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday, adding to the bustling maritime activities in the coming days.
