BYD Expands into Tunisian Market with Five New Models

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) leader BYD has significantly expanded its global presence by entering the Tunisian market with five new models. The company aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Tunisia and across Africa.

BYD’s Diverse Lineup for Tunisia

BYD introduced three fully electric vehicles (EVs): the BYD Tang, Dolphin, and Yuan Plus (also known as the BYD Atto 3). Additionally, they unveiled two plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), the BYD Song Plus DM-i and Destroyer 05 (known locally as the BYD King). These vehicles cater to a wide range of driving needs and preferences.

Strong Global Sales Performance

This launch follows BYD’s impressive sales figures for June 2024. The company reported a 28.46% year-on-year increase in total vehicle sales, reaching 341,658 units, including 145,200 pure EVs and 195,000 PHEVs.

BYD is also experiencing strong growth in overseas markets, with 27,000 new energy passenger vehicles sold internationally in June.

BYD’s Ambitious Expansion Plans

BYD’s commitment to international expansion is evident in their 2021 overseas expansion plan. Over the past year, they’ve established a presence in 19 countries, including major European markets like the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

They’ve also opened 250 stores globally and launched popular models like the Yuan Plus, Seal, Dolphin, and Song Plus EV. The Yuan Plus, in particular, has achieved remarkable success, becoming the best-selling EV in several countries.

Continued Innovation on the Horizon

BYD remains focused on innovation, as demonstrated by their unveiling of eight new energy vehicles at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2024. This included the BYD Song Plus DM-i, known as the BYD Seal U DM-i in overseas markets.

BYD’s entry into Tunisia marks a significant development in the African EV market. Their diverse lineup and strong global performance position them for continued success as they contribute to a greener future for transportation.
