Islamabad, August 23, 2024 – In a strategic move to enhance tax revenue and meet the fiscal year 2024-25 targets, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has established a new working group comprising officers from both the Inland Revenue Service (IRS) and Pakistan Customs Service (PCS). The announcement was made on Friday through an official notification.
The working group is tasked with evaluating and proposing reforms in three key areas: procedures and machinery, human resources and administration, and taxpayer facilitation. These areas are crucial for streamlining tax administration and improving overall efficiency in tax collection.

Objectives and Schedule
The primary objectives of the working group are to review and reform tax procedures, improve human resources and administration, and enhance taxpayer facilitation. These reforms are expected to address existing inefficiencies and facilitate smoother tax administration.
The members of the working group are instructed to report to the FBR Headquarters in Islamabad by 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 24, 2024. The group’s meetings will continue until August 27, 2024, with the possibility of an extension by an additional three days if necessary.
This initiative is part of the FBR’s broader strategy to achieve its tax collection targets for the fiscal year 2024-25. By involving a wide range of experienced officers from both IRS and PCS, the FBR aims to leverage their expertise and insights to implement effective reforms and improve tax collection processes.
