FBR’s return filing portal response inconsistent: KTBA

Taxpayers are experiencing slow or no response from the return filing portal on Thursday, the last date i.e. September 30, 2021.

Muhammad Zeeshan Merchant, President, Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA)  expressed concerns over slow or no response of IRIS portal as a large number of taxpayers may not comply with the mandatory requirement of return filing by end of the day if the same is persist.

It is pertinent to mention here that the last date for filing of income tax return for tax year 2021 is September 30, 2021.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) a day earlier made it clear that the date for filing income tax returns would not be extended. The FBR also claimed that the return filing portal was working seamlessly and it had received 150,000 returns in a single day on September 28, 2021.

On the other hand, KTBA president said: “IRIS is not working. How can we file tax returns and extension as per law. This is very disappointing from the FBR.”
