Hyundai Unveils Free Anti-Theft Solution for Ineligible Models

Hyundai Motor America has unveiled a new anti-theft solution to safeguard a specific group of Hyundai vehicles that did not qualify for the previously introduced software upgrade earlier this year.

This innovative security feature, an ignition cylinder protector accompanied by a locking bracket, is designed to shield vehicles lacking push-button ignitions and advanced anti-theft systems, particularly vulnerable to thefts driven by social media trends.

Independently verified by a leading engineering and scientific consulting firm, the effectiveness of the anti-theft ignition cylinder protector is well-established. It fortifies the ignition cylinder body, thwarting theft attempts often promoted through social media channels.

Hyundai aims to distribute the anti-theft ignition cylinder protector for free at all Hyundai dealerships. Approximately 646,000 vehicles, ineligible for the earlier anti-theft software, are targeted for installation, with the process taking about 30 minutes per vehicle. Post-installation, each vehicle will be affixed with window decals to communicate enhanced theft protection.

Starting December 20, Hyundai will initiate notifications to affected customers via various channels, including mail, email, outbound phone calls, social media, search engine marketing, display marketing, and a dedicated website.

Customers will be instructed to visit the nearest Hyundai dealership for the complimentary installation of the ignition cylinder protector.
