Karachi Chamber Opens on Sunday for Membership Renewal

Karachi, March 27, 2024 – The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has announced the opening of its doors on Sunday, March 31, 2024, to facilitate the renewal of memberships, in response to the approaching deadline.

Acting President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Altaf A. Ghaffar, disclosed that the KCCI will extend its operational hours from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM on both Saturday, March 30, and Sunday, March 31. Additionally, the office will observe extended hours from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2024, to streamline the process of membership renewal.

Ghaffar emphasized that the decision to extend office timings and operate on Sunday was made due to the unique circumstance this year, where the deadline for membership renewal falls on a Sunday. He urged all members to renew their KCCI memberships promptly to avoid any inconvenience.

Members were notified through letters, emails, and SMS services regarding the expiration of their memberships on March 31, 2024. Ghaffar stressed the importance of renewing memberships on or before the deadline by submitting the prescribed membership fee along with proof of filing the last income tax and sales tax returns, if applicable.

In an effort to simplify the renewal process, the Karachi Chamber has introduced a Faysal Bank Cash Counter within its premises for the first time. This initiative aims to provide members with a hassle-free environment to submit their renewal fees.

Ghaffar cautioned that failure to renew memberships by March 31, 2024, would result in automatic cessation of membership. To rejoin KCCI, former members would need to undergo the entire re-admission process.

The Karachi Chamber has provided multiple options for the submission of membership renewal fees, including online banking, bank challan submission at designated branches of Bank Al-Habib, Habib Metropolitan Bank, Meezan Bank Limited, Faysal Bank Limited, or through the Upaisa App. Members can also opt to submit pay orders at the KCCI premises, accompanied by payment receipts and income tax returns.

Members who have not received their payment challans can seek assistance from the membership department during office hours.

Additionally, KCCI has expedited the issuance of membership cards and certificates, which are essential for various purposes.

The decision to extend office hours and operate on Sunday reflects KCCI’s commitment to ensuring convenience for its members and facilitating a smooth renewal process. The Chamber remains dedicated to supporting businesses and fostering economic growth in Karachi.
