PM directs launching portal to facilitate investors

In a bid to facilitate both local and foreign investors, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday instructed relevant authorities to expedite the launch of a one-window portal designed to streamline investor facilitation in Pakistan.

The directive was issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, where discussions centered around enhancing investment in the country’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

During the meeting, Prime Minister Khan emphasized the need for increased consultation and coordination among all stakeholders involved in the project. “The government is committed to removing all obstacles faced by both local and foreign investors to accelerate industrial growth and create a conducive business environment,” the Prime Minister stated.

The Board of Investment (BoI) officials briefed the meeting on the ongoing development of the one-window portal, aimed at simplifying and easing the investor experience. The portal is envisioned as a comprehensive platform to address the challenges investors encounter, from securing administrative and legal approvals to accessing necessary facilities for their industrial operations.

The portal, which is being designed to support both local and international investors, will operate in two phases. In the initial phase, relevant federal departments will be integrated into the system. Subsequently, the second phase will see the inclusion of provincial departments, making the platform a one-stop solution for investors seeking approvals and services from different tiers of government.

“By including both federal and provincial departments, the portal will ensure that investors have a seamless experience, no matter where they are investing,” officials noted. The platform will offer both traditional paperwork and digital approval options, providing flexibility to investors while ensuring that regulatory requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner.

In addition to simplifying the approval process, the one-window portal is expected to significantly reduce bureaucratic delays, a longstanding issue that has deterred many investors from pursuing industrial ventures in Pakistan. By offering a streamlined, technology-driven approach to investor facilitation, the government hopes to enhance Pakistan’s attractiveness as an investment destination and foster greater economic growth through industrial development.

The establishment of this portal is a key part of the government’s broader strategy to create a business-friendly environment and bolster the economy through targeted reforms. With this initiative, the government aims to pave the way for a more dynamic and investor-centric ecosystem, thereby contributing to Pakistan’s long-term industrial and economic progress.
