PM Kakar Vows to Defend Civil Servants Against Violent Trolls

Islamabad, February 19, 2024 – Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar delivered a resolute message on Monday, asserting that the State of Pakistan would stand firmly behind its civil servants in the face of intimidation, blackmail, and pressure from what he termed “violent trolls.”

The Prime Minister pledged decisive action against those involved in such activities, emphasizing the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the constitutional rights of civil servants.

The Prime Minister’s statement came in response to concerns raised about certain elements resorting to aggressive tactics, including the weaponization of social media, to coerce civil servants into switching their loyalties. Prime Minister Kakar noted that these actions by individuals with a history of violent behavior and vigilantism were in clear violation of the Constitution, specifically citing Article 5 and other relevant laws.

“The people of Pakistan have spoken with a clear voice on February 8, providing a split mandate,” Prime Minister Kakar said. “However, some elements with a proven track record of violent behavior are now using different tricks, including the weaponization of social media, in blackmailing, vigilantism, and pressurizing civil servants to switch their loyalties from the State of Pakistan to the violent gang.”

The Prime Minister’s assertion that the State of Pakistan would defend civil servants in the execution of their constitutional duties reflects a commitment to protecting the integrity of public service and ensuring that civil servants can carry out their responsibilities without fear of coercion or intimidation.

To address these concerns, Prime Minister Kakar announced that the government would take swift and decisive action against the perpetrators. “The State of Pakistan shall defend the civil servants in discharging their constitutional duties, act against these violent trolls, and ensure exemplary punishment for them,” he declared.

Reiterating the government’s unwavering commitment to the civil servants serving the State and the people of Pakistan, Prime Minister Kakar emphasized that there should be no doubt about the administration’s dedication to supporting the noble work carried out by public servants. By taking a firm stand against those attempting to undermine the rule of law, the Prime Minister sends a strong message that the government will not tolerate any actions that jeopardize the stability and security of the nation.

The announcement comes at a critical juncture, highlighting the government’s determination to uphold democratic principles and protect the independence of civil servants from external pressures. As the State of Pakistan faces challenges both domestically and internationally, Prime Minister Kakar’s assurance of support for civil servants is a testament to the government’s commitment to maintaining order and safeguarding the democratic institutions that form the backbone of the nation.
