Standard Chartered Bank conducts financial literacy program for less-privileged children

Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited recently conducted a financial literacy program for over 1200 underprivileged children from HOPE schools.

The program was aimed at educating young students on the importance of finance and financial institutions, with around 150 volunteers from the bank conducting sessions with the children on how to save money and highlighting the digital future of financial institutions.

Following the financial literacy module, the children were treated to a grand Iftaar-dinner and gifted new clothes to wear on Eid-ul-Fitr. HOPE is an NGO that provides services of health and education in Pakistan through their healthcare network, formal and informal schools, and vocational centers.

Rehan Shaikh, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan, spoke on the occasion, highlighting the importance of financial literacy and inclusion, especially amongst vulnerable populations such as youth, women, and micro and small businesses.

He further added that financial preparedness of youth is essential for their well-being, besides being vital for the economic future of the country. Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan is proud of its continued efforts to support the government and regulator’s increased focus on the roles banks play in deepening financial inclusion and education.
