Karachi, August 3, 2023 – In a commendable display of efficiency, the Karachi Port Trust successfully managed the handling of a substantial 86,037 tons of cargo in the last 24 hours, concluding at 0700 hours on August 3, 2023.

The port’s crucial role in facilitating trade and economic activities in Pakistan was evident as it efficiently managed both import and export shipments.

The import cargo accounted for 59,905 tons, showcasing the diverse range of goods entering the port. The breakdown of import cargo included 23,438 tons of containerized cargo, reflecting the significant role of Karachi Port as a major hub for container handling. Additionally, 3,067 tons of chickpeas, 8,700 tons of rock phosphate, and 24,700 tons of oil and liquid cargo contributed to the impressive import figures.

On the export front, the port handled 26,132 tons of cargo, emphasizing the country’s robust international trade. Containerized cargo again played a pivotal role in exports, with 15,739 tons being shipped out. Other notable export items included 2,093 tons of mill scale and 8,300 tons of oil and liquid cargo.

At the time of the report, several ships were berthed at the Karachi Port Trust, underscoring the port’s constant activity and continuous service. Among the currently berthed ships were M.T Mardan and Momentum Phonex, showcasing the diversity of vessels utilizing the port’s facilities.
