Deepal L07 Debuts as Electric Sedan with Huawei-Powered Smarts

Changan and Huawei have unveiled the Deepal L07, a new electric sedan that promises to blend cutting-edge technology with sleek design.

The L07 comes in two configurations: pure electric and Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV). Positioned as the “smart” sibling to the sporty Deepal SL03, the L07 features Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving system.

This technology stems from a collaboration agreement signed between Changan and Huawei in November 2023, which focuses on developing such innovative systems.

The L07’s introduction has caused some confusion due to the SL03 currently being marketed as the L07 in Thailand. This has led to speculation that Deepal might revamp its naming strategy, potentially using “L0” for sedans and “S0” for SUVs. Despite the naming puzzle, Deepal CEO Deng Chenghao has confirmed that both the SL03 and L07 will coexist in the market.

Visually, the L07 builds upon the SL03’s design language, featuring a bold, curved front end and a distinctive full-width taillight with an illuminated Deepal logo. An electrically operated rear wing adds a touch of flair.

Measuring 4.87 meters long, 1.89 meters wide, and 1.48 meters tall, the L07 is slightly longer than the SL03, though the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2.9 meters. The curb weight ranges from 1,865 kg to 1,880 kg, depending on the model.

The EV variant includes a potent 185 kW electric motor, promising brisk acceleration and responsive performance. The EREV model combines a 72 kW 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a 160 kW electric motor, offering extended range and reduced emissions. Both versions utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, known for their lower cost, durability, and safety.

While official pricing has yet to be released, the Deepal L07 is anticipated to be a strong contender in the electric sedan market. Its intelligent technology, pleasing aesthetics, and diverse powertrain options could prove to be a winning formula.
