Highest number of returns filed by persons below threshold income

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued analysis of income tax returns by categories of taxpayers for tax year 2018. It shows the highest number of returns was filed by persons whose income was not subject to tax.

The threshold income that was exempt for tax year 2018 was Rs400,000 for salaried persons and business individuals / Association of Persons (AOPs).

The FBR issued the directory for tax year 2018 and its analysis showed the income slab under Rs400,000 and below filed 1 million returns for the tax year, which was the highest or 37 percent out of total 2.8 million returns filed for the year.
