Hot and Humid Weather Expected Across Pakistan Plain Areas on August 20

Karachi, August 20, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast for August 20, 2023, indicating that hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail in most plain areas of the country.

In its daily weather report, the PMD stated that the weather is likely to remain mainly hot and humid throughout the day in most plain regions of Pakistan. However, there is a possibility of rain, wind, and thundershowers at isolated locations in northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.

The synoptic situation analysis revealed that weak moist currents originating from the Bay of Bengal are currently penetrating the upper parts of the country. Additionally, a weak westerly wave has been identified in the northern regions of Pakistan.

Over the past 24 hours, hot and humid weather conditions prevailed over most parts of the country. However, there were recorded instances of rainfall in various areas, including:

As for today’s recorded highest maximum temperatures (°C), Bhakkar topped the list at 43°C. Nokkundi, Noorpur Thal, and Dalbandin closely followed with temperatures reaching 42°C.

Residents and travelers in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions to stay hydrated and protect themselves from the scorching heat. Additionally, those in regions with the possibility of rain and thunderstorms should be prepared for sudden weather changes.
