Kohli Achieves Milestone, Surpasses Tendulkar’s Record with 50th ODI Century

Virat Kohli, the star batsman from India, has rewritten history by breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most One Day International (ODI) centuries.

This remarkable feat unfolded at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, where Kohli secured his 50th ODI hundred during India’s semi-final clash against New Zealand in Mumbai.

The milestone was reached in the 42nd over, courtesy of Kohli’s masterful batting against Lockie Ferguson. The innings featured eight fours and one six, showcasing his exceptional skill as he surpassed the 100-run mark.

This particular century holds special significance as it marks Kohli’s first-ever ton in the knockout stage of the Cricket World Cup. Not only did it secure India’s advancement in the tournament, but it also saw Kohli surpass Tendulkar’s record for the most runs in a single edition of the Cricket World Cup.

Kohli’s stellar performance in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 has been consistent, with this being his third century in the tournament. Earlier, he displayed his batting prowess with centuries against Bangladesh and South Africa, contributing significantly to India’s victories.

Since making his ODI debut in 2008, Kohli has been a stalwart in international cricket. His journey to this milestone began in 2009 when he scored his first ODI century against Sri Lanka in Kolkata.

This latest achievement marks Kohli’s fifth century in the Cricket World Cup, showcasing his enduring excellence in the format.

Notably, his previous four World Cup hundreds all coincided with India’s victories, and his latest century propelled India to a formidable 397/4 against New Zealand.

In the current Cricket World Cup, Kohli has been in exceptional form, amassing 711 runs in 10 innings at an impressive average of 101.57.

His contribution has been vital in India’s quest for glory, and fans eagerly anticipate more stellar performances as the tournament progresses.
