Met Office Predicts Dry Weather Across Pakistan on October 19

Islamabad, October 18, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued its weather forecast, indicating dry conditions for most parts of the country on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

In its daily report, the PMD announced that dry weather is expected to prevail throughout the nation, with cooler temperatures in northern areas during the night and morning hours.

According to the synoptic situation provided by the PMD, a continental air mass is prevailing over the majority of the country, contributing to the anticipated dry weather.

The weather forecast for Wednesday, October 18, 2023, had already predicted dry conditions for most of the nation. The northern regions experienced colder temperatures during the night and early morning hours. However, the report noted the possibility of isolated rain-thunderstorms in central and southern Balochistan.

Over the past 24 hours, weather patterns across the country varied. Rainfall and thunderstorms were reported in central Balochistan, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Punjab. Meanwhile, dry weather conditions prevailed in other parts of the country.

Rainfall measurements (in millimeters) reported were as follows: in Balochistan, Khuzdar received 19 mm, while Dalbandin received 02 mm. In Kashmir, Muzaffarabad (Airport and City) received 06 mm and 04 mm, respectively. Rawalakot recorded 01 mm of rainfall. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kakul and Kalam received 03 mm of rainfall, while Balakot, Chitral, and Drosh each received 01 mm. In Punjab, Rawalpindi Kacheri reported 02 mm of rainfall, and Murree, Gujranwala, and Sialkot received 01 mm each.

Additionally, the recorded lowest minimum temperatures in the region were in Leh and Kalam, both reaching -02°C.

The PMD’s forecasts and weather updates play a crucial role in assisting the public, agriculture, and various sectors in planning their activities and making informed decisions, especially in areas where weather conditions can have a significant impact. As of now, dry weather is anticipated for October 19, with variations in temperature across different regions.
