Lahore, December 4, 2023 – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has granted no-objection certificates (NOC) to three prominent players—fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan, along with leg-spinner Usama Mir—allowing them to participate in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-2024.

The decision comes after a thorough evaluation of the players’ workloads and aligning it with the national men’s team’s future tour schedule. The PCB has deemed this move as essential in striking a balance between the players’ participation in high-profile leagues and ensuring their availability for national duties.

Haris Rauf and Usama Mir have received NOCs for a total of five matches each, whereas Zaman Khan has been granted an NOC for four matches. All these matches are scheduled to take place between December 7 and December 28, adding a Pakistani flavor to the Australian cricketing extravaganza.

The PCB’s decision reflects its commitment to nurturing the talents of its players and providing them with opportunities to compete in top-notch leagues around the world. By allowing these cricketers to participate in the Big Bash League, the board aims to enhance their skills, expose them to different playing conditions, and contribute to their overall growth as professional athletes.

Commenting on the decision, PCB Chairman, Ramiz Raja, emphasized the importance of finding the right balance between player participation in domestic and international leagues while ensuring their readiness for national commitments. He stated, “Our priority is to ensure that our players get the necessary exposure and experience by playing in top leagues like the Big Bash. At the same time, we are mindful of their workload and scheduling to avoid burnout. This decision is a testament to our commitment to the holistic development of our cricketers.”

Haris Rauf, who has gained recognition for his fiery pace and impressive performances, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity. “I am thrilled to be a part of the Big Bash League. It’s a fantastic platform to showcase my skills and learn from the best in the business. I appreciate the PCB’s support in allowing me to participate in such a prestigious tournament,” he said.

The NOCs granted to these players not only underscore the PCB’s progressive approach but also signify a collaborative effort between the board and players in charting a path for their professional growth. This move is anticipated to be a win-win for both the cricketers and Pakistan cricket, with the players gaining valuable experience and the national team benefiting from their enhanced skills and exposure.

As the BBL season kicks off, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the performances of these Pakistani cricketers, hoping they make significant contributions to their respective teams and leave an indelible mark on the league.
