BMG Achieves Landslide Victory in KCCI Elections 2023

Karachi, September 25, 2023 – In a resounding victory, the Businessmen Group (BMG) has secured a landslide win in the 2023 annual elections of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

The BMG candidates triumphed by a wide margin, garnering an impressive total of 43,485 votes. Their sole opponent, vying for a single seat, managed to secure just 315 votes.

This remarkable outcome was announced by the Members of the Election Commission, including Mian Abrar Ahmed, Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan, and Abdul Nasir Rangoonwala. Among the elected members, Tanveer Barry received the highest number of votes with 2,917, followed closely by Muhammad Iqbal Khamisani, Amir Iqbal Naviwala, Shoaib Sultan, Ibrahim Mustafa Ahmed Shamsi, and others, all of whom garnered substantial support from the electorate.

What made this year’s elections particularly historic was the introduction of electronic voting alongside the traditional manual voting system. The electronic voting option was met with high praise and enthusiasm from KCCI members, who found it more convenient and efficient. Out of the total votes cast, an impressive 38,285 were through e-voting, while 5,505 votes were cast manually.

Chairman of the Businessmen Group (BMG), Zubair Motiwala, expressed his gratitude to the business and industrial community of Karachi for their overwhelming support. He extended his congratulations to the newly elected Managing Committee Members and highlighted the BMG’s commitment to serving the interests of the business and industrial community.

Motiwala emphasized the BMG’s remarkable track record in KCCI elections, stating, “By the grace of Almighty Allah, BMG has been winning all the elections every year without losing a single seat since 1998, of which the majority of the elections have been won unopposed by BMG candidates.”

He also acknowledged the challenges faced during this year’s elections, such as traffic disruptions due to a sit-in at Sheheen Complex. Nevertheless, he commended the dedication of KCCI voters who braved the traffic jam to cast their votes in support of the BMG candidates.

The Office Bearers elections are scheduled to be held on September 30, 2023, followed by the Annual General Meeting on the same day. BMG’s resounding victory reaffirms its strong position and continued support from the business and industrial community in Karachi.
