Karachi, April 30, 2024 – The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has been a hive of activity over the past 24 hours, with significant movements in both the arrival and departure of various vessels, as well as substantial cargo handling, according to the latest reports issued on April 30, 2024.

Ship Movements: As of 0700 hours on Tuesday, KPT noted several key developments in its shipping schedule. The port welcomed multiple vessels, including the container ships GSL Elizabeth and GFS Giselle, as well as Hyundai Busan. Tankers such as PVT Aurora and SKY Blue were also berthed, indicating a varied mix of incoming maritime traffic.

In terms of departures, the Navios Bahamas, CMA CGM Nabucco, ES Right, and Frankfurt Express have all sailed from the port, signaling a brisk pace of operations at KPT.

Expected Movements: Looking ahead, the TBC Princess and Hyundai Busan are scheduled to sail later today, while several vessels are expected to arrive with diverse cargoes. These include the Lila Confidence and Valiant, both carrying chemicals, and the Alialaa, scheduled to offload 40,000 metric tons of high sulfur fuel oil (HSFO). Additionally, the Akij Star and Pride are expected to arrive with large shipments of clinkers totaling over 100,000 metric tons.

Cargo Handling: In the last 24 hours, KPT handled a total of 120,553 metric tons of cargo, split between 64,884 metric tons of export cargo and 55,669 metric tons of import cargo. The detailed breakdown of cargo includes:

• Containerized Cargo: Dominated the throughput with 88,541 metric tons divided between imports (45,846 metric tons) and exports (42,695 metric tons).

• Break Bulk (B.BULK) Cargo: Accounted for 5,042 metric tons, all on the import side.

• Bartie Lumps and Clinkers: Contributed to the bulk cargo segment with 4,589 metric tons and 10,345 metric tons respectively, all slated for export.

• Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Wheat: Smaller quantities of these commodities were handled, totaling 2,513 metric tons for DAP and 2,268 metric tons for wheat, all imported.

• Oil/Liquid Cargo: Recorded 7,255 metric tons, strictly on the export side.
