Islamabad, September 30, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting the likelihood of a thunderstorm in the upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
In its daily weather forecast, the PMD has indicated that rain, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorm (with possible snowfall over high mountainous areas), is anticipated in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
While these areas are expected to experience precipitation and inclement weather conditions, the rest of the country is likely to witness dry weather, with temperatures remaining relatively high in the southern regions.
The synoptic situation contributing to this weather pattern is attributed to a westerly wave affecting the western parts of Pakistan. This weather system is expected to persist in the upper regions until the following morning.
Over the past 24 hours, Pakistan experienced hot and dry weather in most parts of the country. However, there were reports of rain, wind, and thunderstorm activity in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and the Pothohar region.
Rainfall data for the past 24 hours includes:

Punjab: Attock 15mm, Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 10mm, Chaklala 01mm), Islamabad (Saidpur 05mm, Golra, Zero Point 03mm, Airport 01mm), and Murree 03mm.
In terms of temperatures, the highest maximum recorded temperatures for the day were 42°C in Shaheed Benazirabad and Hyderabad.
Residents and travelers in the affected regions are advised to exercise caution and be prepared for adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain and thunderstorm.
