FBR Announces Tax Collection Schedule for Eid Holidays

Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has released a schedule for the collection of duty and taxes during the upcoming Eid holidays, expected to occur later this month.

In an official communication, the FBR stated that since the Eid holidays will coincide with the closing days of June 2023, it is crucial to maximize revenue collection before the holidays. It is anticipated that businesses may not be able to deposit duty and taxes in the government exchequer during the final days of June.

To ensure smooth tax payments, the FBR has instructed all Large Taxpayers Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayer Offices (MTO), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) to remain open on the last weekend before Eid ul Adha, which falls on the 24th and 25th of June 2023. These offices will operate with normal working hours and extend their services until 8:00 pm on the last working day before the Eid holidays. Additionally, FBR offices will remain open until midnight on June 30, 2023.

The decision to open or close offices on the remaining weekends of June 2023 will be left to the discretion of the respective Chief Commissioners, taking into account the unique dynamics and target achievement of each jurisdiction.

The FBR aims to facilitate taxpayers in making their duty and tax payments promptly and efficiently. This schedule allows individuals and businesses to fulfill their tax obligations before the Eid holidays commence, ensuring a streamlined revenue collection process.
