FBR Initiates Domicile Verification of Balochistan Employees

Karachi, January 15, 2024 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has embarked on a comprehensive verification process of the domiciles of its employees hailing from the province of Balochistan.

This move comes in response to the directives of the Standing Committee of the Senate, emphasizing the need to ensure the authenticity of domicile certificates for all officers and staff associated with the FBR and originating from Balochistan.

In an official memorandum distributed to all chief commissioners, director generals of Inland Revenue, as well as chief collectors, and director generals and collectors of Pakistan Customs, the FBR outlined the procedural details for the verification exercise. The government of Balochistan has requested the FBR to furnish copies of domicile certificates for its employees belonging to Balochistan province.

The FBR stated that the verification initiative aligns with the Senate Standing Committee’s guidance, underlining the significance of confirming the authenticity of domicile certificates. The process is designed to encompass all officers and staff members associated with the FBR and originating from Balochistan.

To facilitate this verification process, the heads of all field formations within the FBR have been instructed to compile a comprehensive list of serving officers and staff members hailing from Balochistan province. This list is inclusive of individuals on deputation, training, or leave, with the exception of those officers who were initially appointed in BS-17 in IRS/PCS through the CSS examination.

All field formation heads are urged to submit the compiled list along with legible and attested copies of domicile certificates for the mentioned employees. The submission deadline for this information is set for January 31, 2024. This timeframe underscores the FBR’s commitment to expeditiously address the verification process, ensuring compliance with the directives set by the government of Balochistan and the Standing Committee of the Senate.

The FBR’s initiative reflects its dedication to transparency and adherence to regulatory procedures. By undertaking this verification process, the FBR aims to uphold the integrity of its workforce and ensure that the domicile certificates of its employees from Balochistan meet the prescribed standards.

As the FBR proceeds with this verification exercise, it underscores the broader importance of maintaining accuracy and accountability within government institutions. This initiative is expected to contribute to the enhancement of administrative processes and reinforce public trust in the FBR’s commitment to upholding regulatory standards.
