Northeast Punjab May Receive Thundershower on August 16, 2023

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted the likelihood of a thundershower in northeast Punjab on August 16, 2023.

While hot and humid conditions are anticipated in the plain areas of the country, scattered rain accompanied by thunder and wind is expected in isolated pockets of northeast Punjab, the Potohar region, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir.

According to the synoptic situation provided by the PMD, weak moist currents originating from the Arabian Sea are making their way into the upper regions of the country. Additionally, an active westerly wave has been identified in the upper parts of Pakistan.

Over the last 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced hot and humid weather. However, there were instances of rain, wind, and thundershowers in various locations. Notably, these weather patterns were observed in Islamabad, the Potohar Region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan. Some areas even witnessed isolated heavy rainfall, particularly in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, and Kashmir.

Today’s Highest Maximum Temperature’s (°C): Turbat recorded the highest maximum temperature at 44 degrees Celsius.
