One of the notable achievements was witnessed at the Nim East-1 well, which is an exploratory well jointly operated by OGDCL (95%) and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) (5%), situated in District Tando Allah Yar, Sindh Province. After injecting the produced resources into the system through a 6″-12.5 Km pipeline, the well yielded an additional production of 585 barrels per day (BPD) of oil, 7.4 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas, and 32 metric tons per day (MTD) of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The gas from this well has been injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network since July 20, 2023, and its performance remained under observation until July 28, 2023.

Another successful intervention was carried out at the Pasakhi-11 well in the Pasakhi Oil Field, located in District Hyderabad, Sindh, and wholly owned by OGDCL. By installing an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP), the well’s production was significantly boosted, resulting in an incremental impact of 1010 BPD of oil. Currently producing 1810 BPD of oil, the well continues to be observed for optimum flow rates. The enhanced production from Pasakhi-11 commenced on July 28, 2023.

Furthermore, the Chak 2-1 well, operated in a joint venture with OGDCL (62.5%), GHPL (22.5%), and Orient Petroleum Inc. (OPI) (15%), located in District Sanghar, Sindh Province, also saw an increase in production. Rigless intervention with additional perforations contributed to the addition of 140 BPD of oil, 4.7 MMSCFD of gas, and 11 MTD of LPG. As with the Nim East-1 well, the gas from Chak 2-1 was injected into the SSGCL network from July 20, 2023, and its performance remained under observation until July 28, 2023.

The fourth successful intervention took place at the Chak-V Dim South-3 well, located in the Chak-5 Dim South Block, District Sanghar, with OGDCL holding a 100% working interest. Rigless intervention with new perforations resulted in an incremental production of 130 BPD of oil, 3.8 MMSCFD of gas, and 8 MTD of LPG. Similar to the other wells, the gas from Chak-V Dim South-3 was injected into the SSGCL network from July 24, 2023, and its performance remained under observation until July 28, 2023.

The OGDCL’s significant enhancement in production during July 2023 is expected to have positive implications for the company’s financial performance and contribute to meeting the country’s energy demands. As the company continues to adopt advanced technologies and invest in exploration and production activities, further progress and growth in the oil and gas sector are anticipated.
