Pakistan’s Eid-ul-Fitr on April 22: Shoppers Get Extra Time

Pakistan’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebration has been scheduled for April 22, 2023, following the announcement by Chairman Abdul Khabir Azad of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee that the Shawwal moon was not sighted on Thursday.

With no reported moon sightings from any region of the country, Eid-ul-Fitr has been officially declared to fall on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

The extended time frame has provided the Pakistani population with an additional day to make their Eid-related purchases.

To commemorate the end of Ramadan and observe the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, the Pakistani government had declared a five-day holiday, effective from April 21, 2023. This announcement was made by the interior ministry on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

The holiday period started from April 21 and will last until April 25. As a result, all public and private institutions, including banks and educational facilities, will remain closed during this time, enabling individuals to celebrate with their loved ones.
