On July 24, 2023, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather update for Islamabad and various regions in Pakistan.
Monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are continuously penetrating the country, leading to the possibility of thundershowers. Additionally, a westerly trough is affecting the upper parts of Pakistan and is expected to persist for the next few days.

Forecast for Monday, July 24, 2023:
Expect rain, wind, and thundershowers in the following regions: Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Punjab, northeast and south Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh. Heavy rainfall is likely in the following areas during the forecast period:
• Kashmir
• Northeast Punjab
• Pothohar region
• Islamabad
• Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
• Northeast and south Balochistan
• Sindh

Alerts issued by PMD:
1. Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, and Lahore from 23rd to 26th July. There is also a possibility of landslides in vulnerable areas such as Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this period.
2. Flash flooding may occur in the following areas from 23rd to 26th July:
• Kashmir
• Dir
• Swat
• Kohistan
• Shangla
• Buner
• Manshera
• Abbottabad
• Rawalpindi/Islamabad
• Hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan
• Northeast & south Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Ziarat, Barkhan, Kohlu, Shirani, Harnai, Bolan, Loralai, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Kech, Turbat, Panjgur, Awaran, Pasni, Ormara, Gwadar, and surrounding areas) on 23rd & 24th July.
3. Heavy rains may cause waterlogging in low-lying areas of Lower Sindh (Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Matiari, Hyderabad, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Karachi, and Hyderabad) during 23rd to 24th July.
