FBR Appoints 156 BS-16 Officers in Pakistan Customs

Karachi, February 15, 2024 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced the appointment of 156 officers at the BS-16 level in Pakistan Customs, as per an official notification issued recently.

Following recommendations from the Federal Public Service Commission, FBR extended offer letters to the selected candidates, appointing them as valuation and appraising officers in Pakistan Customs.

The terms and conditions of the appointment include the officers being entitled to draw pay in the Basic Pay Scale (BPS-16) of Rs. 28,070-22,60-95,870, along with standard allowances as per rules. The appointees will be on probation for one year, extendable for an additional year, subject to the provisions of the Civil Servants Act, 1973.

The services of the appointed officers may be terminated in accordance with Section 11 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973. Moreover, their appointment is contingent upon the submission of a Medical Fitness Certificate from the authorized Central Medical Board of the Federal Government, along with two character certificates from officers in BS-17 or above.

The provisional appointment is subject to verification of character, antecedents, academic certificates, and domicile certificates. Successful completion of prescribed training, the schedule of which will be communicated post-joining, is a prerequisite for confirmation.

In terms of other service matters, such as leave and medical facilities, the officers will be governed by the relevant rules of the Federal Government applicable to their category.

Candidates currently employed in any government department or autonomous body must secure release from their employer before assuming the new post. Those in government service who have not submitted their Departmental Permission Certificate to FPSC are required to do so promptly.

The selected officers may be posted anywhere in Pakistan. Acceptance of the offer entails an immediate report to the Medical Centre for Federal Government Servants for a medical examination. Original medical fitness certificates, two character certificates, and an expression of willingness to join the post must be submitted to the FBR by March 1, 2024, to avoid cancellation of the offer. Candidates unwilling to accept the offer are encouraged to communicate their regret in writing. Notification of appointment/posting will be issued upon receipt of the specified documents.
