FBR Launches Transaction Recording for Aggressive Crackdown on Tax Evaders

Karachi, August 9, 2023 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken a significant step in its pursuit of tax evaders by launching an information portal to record all transactions.

This move aims to crack down on individuals who have taxable income but are not declaring it, while encouraging citizens to verify their transaction authenticity.

A senior FBR official shared with PkRevenue.com that the revenue body has established an information portal named “Malomaat” to systematically record all transactions related to withholding taxes. This initiative is designed to identify individuals with taxable income who have been evading taxes by not disclosing their income and assets.

The FBR has strongly recommended that all citizens access the Malomaat portal to review their transaction records and ensure accuracy before any adverse actions are taken against them. Malomaat provides an avenue for citizens to enroll and access information related to them that is stored within the FBR’s database.

The data available on the Malomaat portal is sourced from both third-party information and FBR’s own data, collected from taxpayers’ statements, declarations, and withholding data from the FBR’s e-payment system. The portal currently offers various tabs that display information under headings like withholding data, vehicles, properties, frequent travel, debit transactions, credit transactions, and educational expenses.

The FBR plans to introduce additional tabs in the future, as they gradually integrate data from various departments and organizations that record significant financial transactions. Existing taxpayers can access third-party data through their IRIS login, enabling them to compare it with their own declarations for accuracy.

This development underscores the FBR’s commitment to combat tax evasion and encourage citizens to fulfill their tax obligations. The FBR’s ability to track and record major financial transactions aims to ensure transparency in businesses and promote national duty among citizens. The initiative serves as a reminder that FBR’s pursuit of tax evaders leaves no room for individuals to evade their financial responsibilities.
